Automated Election System (AES) overview
The May 2025 election is the country's sixth automated polls, which started in the 2010 elections.
The Comelec decided to shift from the traditional Vote-Counting Machines (VCMs) that have been in use since 2010, replacing them with new Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) from South Korea’s Miru Systems Co. Ltd.
The transition is intended to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of vote counting, addressing persistent concerns about the reliability and security of the electoral process.
Around 110,000 ACMs from polling precincts nationwide will transmit election results or vote counts – also known as election returns or ERs – to the different servers and canvassing centers in the automated election system (AES).
Comelec said on April 11 that they introduced new transparency and access features for the 2025 national and local elections, including:
- printing and posting of election returns on precinct walls before transmission
- transmission of results to the servers of municipal and city election offices, COMELEC’s central and backup servers
- provision of a dedicated media server for real-time access to election returns
- public release of transmission logs, audit logs, IP addresses, and hash codes used during the elections
Transparency media server access for poll results
Comelec said they granted access to the media server located at the Circuit 1 Building in Makati to various media organizations. This includes ABS-CBN, GMA, TV5, Rappler, among others.
COMELEC Chairperson George Erwin Garcia said the central server is also mirrored to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and may be monitored by the media.
Election 2025 Results Online
Similar with previous automated elections, the Comelec is expected to activate Election Results 2025 website.
As voting closes on Monday, results tabulated from the transparency server will be available for public viewing.

Speedy results of Election 2025
Based on previous elections, the proclamation of the winners of the Senatorial race is expected within 2 to 4 days after polls close.
The winners of local elections could be proclaimed by the Comelec as early as the evening of May 12.
Meanwhile, Comelec announced that candidates facing disqualification complaints are less likely to be declared winners in the May 12 midterm polls.
“We are studying the possibility of suspending the proclamation of candidates with pending disqualification cases if they win the elections, especially if there is strong evidence against them,” Comelec Chairman George Garcia said.
