For the first installment of this year's Kwentong Jollibee, it focuses on love beyond the distance and the strength of long distance relationships (LDRs). The first video entitled "LDR" that premiered on Thursday, was directed by blockbuster director Antoinette Jadaone.

RELATED STORIES

The video tells the story of Mina who was first very skeptical about enduring a long distance relationship. In the first part of the video, Mina points out why she doesn't believe LDR would work. She laments how conversations are not enough and at the end of the day, she is still left feeling lonely.

Despite her hesitations, she finds herself in a "lockdown relationship" away from her boyfriend. From there, Mina faces the challenges of loving from afar. She starts getting jealous and questions if their relationship is still worth it.

She mutters, “Hindi ko kaya. Ayoko na yata. Paano ka magmamahal kung hindi kayo nagkikita lalo kung nasanay ka na laging nandiyan siya?”

Mina soon realizes that there is no giving up when it comes to love. "'Pag mahal mo, ‘di ka susuko. Kakapit ka lang. Lalaban ka lang,” she said.

Towards the end of the video, Mina and her boyfriend go on a virtual date. To reenact their first date together, the couple enjoyed a Jollibee meal as they imagined being close with each other. The couple pretended to be dancing together to the slow rendition of Parokya ni Edgar 's hit "Your Song (One and Only)."

Mina went on to realize, "Kasi 'di ba ganun ang nagmamahal, kahit malayo, kahit mahirap. Ang mahalaga, pipiliin at pipiliin mo pa rin siya."

The closing message of the video reminds everyone to that distance shouldn't be a hindrance to love. It stated, "Distance means nothing when someone means everything. Find strength in love."

Director Antoinette Jadaone admitted that this year's entry is more challenging. “How do you still put out the romance in the story kahit na alam natin na hindi ko sila mapapakita together in most of the scenes?” the director said.

The next installment entitled "First Date" was directed by Pepe Diokno and will premiere on February 8. The last of the series, "Hero" under Ianco dela Cruz will drop on February 12.
