In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, the family said Morales passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones after bravely fighting for his life.

The family expressed gratitude to everyone who extended their prayers, financial assistance, love, and unwavering support throughout the comedian’s medical battle.

"Your kindness and generosity have meant so much to our family," the statement read.

They also appealed for continued prayers for Morales’ eternal repose and strength and comfort for those he left behind.

Details of his wake and funeral arrangements will be announced soon.

Ate Gay's battle with cancer

Morales was diagnosed with Stage 4 mucoepidermoid carcinoma in September 2025, with his doctor reportedly telling him that he might not live to see 2026.

In July 2026, another lump appeared near his neck and shoulder, adding to his health challenges.

On October 17, Morales was rushed to the Asian Hospital and Medical Center (AHMC) after experiencing difficulty breathing.

His family later disclosed that he was diagnosed with septic shock and acute respiratory failure secondary to pneumonia, prompting his admission to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

In an update on October 30, his family revealed that he remained in critical condition and was relying on life support after suffering multiple medical complications.

He also suffered a stroke on October 29, which damaged the right side of his brain.

Ate Gay's 'living funeral'

On October 15, 2026, family and friends gathered at Forest Lake Memorial Parks in Biñan, Laguna, for Morales’ so-called "living funeral."

He decided to hold the gathering while he was still alive, saying he would rather experience a wake and hear the praises and heartfelt farewells of loved ones than miss them after his death.

Among those who delivered eulogies were fellow comedian Boobsie Wonderland and content creator Arman Salon.

Morales’ decision gave him the opportunity to personally witness the love and appreciation of the people whose lives he had touched.

He will be remembered for his contributions to Philippine comedy and the laughter he brought to countless audiences.
