Mayor Matt Erwin Florido showed how supportive he is of his single employees' love affairs that he granted them a paid leave of absence on Thursday, the 11th of February 2021. According to Mayor Matt, he is giving them a chance to find a date just in time for the upcoming Valentine's Day.

The mayor announced on his Facebook page, "PARA SA MGA LGU EMPLOYEES NA SINGLE: Pinapayagan ko kayo mag LEAVE sa February 12. Ilaan nyo ang buong araw sa paghahanap ng inyong forever upang makaabot kayo sa February 14. With pay ang leave niyo, kasi naka support ako sa pinagdadaanan nyo. Ok? Lab u! #MAYORwithaHEART"

Mayor Matt even said in jest that since February 12 is also a holiday, the single employees have more time to work on finding their Valentine date.

"PS. Dahil holiday nga pala ang February 12 at Chinese New Year, maaari kayong mag file ng leave sa February 11. Mahaba-haba ang oras nyo para maghanap," he added.

In an interview, Mayor Matt explained that his objective in giving his single employees a paid leave is to make sure everyone will be happy on Valentine's Day amid the challenges we are facing in the pandemic. He said that the initiative is a small reward for their hard work and diligence.

Residents and netizens from all over the Philippines also couldn't help but be amused and impressed with the mayor's initiative.

A netizen commented, "Nakakatuwa naman si yorme napaka-supportive sa single na kababayan. Makahanap na sana kayo ng inyong forever."

Another said, "Galing Naman! Tanggal stress pag ganito mayor, malaking concern at considerations, though hindi Naman lahat ay malungkot sa pagiging alone o single . It's a simple act of kindness din."
