DOLE supervises 65 job fairs nationwide on Labor Day (May 1, 2014)
Manila, Philippines - Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Dimapils-Baldoz annoucned recently the job fairs in Metro Manila, with 17 venues already confirmed, will be the biggest job fairs on May 1, 2014 Labor Day, in terms of number of job vacancies.
"With 65 job fairs already firmed up, the job fairs in Metro Manila will easily be the biggest in terms of job vacancies, with over 77,000 job vacancies already tallied and still counting," Baldoz said in a press release.
"In fact, many more employers are requesting the DOLE National Capital Region for slots, but unfortunately, the biggest venue, the SMX in Pasay City, can only accommodate so much," she added.
Of the 77,000 job vacancies, Baldoz said 9,994 are for police officers to be hired by the Philippine National Police, and 9,000 for various vacancies in the Bureau of Internal Revenue, including lawyers and accountants.

The other day, she already announced the regional venues of the 65 job fairs to be held simultaneoulsy nationwide on 1 May.
"The 65 job fairs will be simultaneous nationwide. These will be held in different venues in 16 regions under the overall supervision of the DOLE," said Baldoz, saying the 2014 Labor Day theme, “Sa Sipag, Tiyaga, at Talino, Buong Mundo Saludo sa Manggagawang Pilipino” will be reflected in all Labor Day activities as a way of recognizing the invaluable contribution of all Filipino workers to the continued growth and resurgence of the Philippine economy.

"The TESDA will also offer free massage and haircutting services, including a skills demonstration for baristas. Smart Communication, a major sponsor of the 2014 Labor Day event, will also offer free calls for OFWs and their families, as well as free printing and photo services," Avila added.

Manila, Philippines - As the country gears up for the 112th Labor Day celebration on Thursday, May 1 2014, Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz reminded jobseekers on the basic “must-do” if they wish to join and participate in any of the 65 nationwide DOLE 2014 Labor Day Job Fairs.
"Whether you are going to the job fair at the SMX Convention Center at the MOA in Pasay City, or to another job fair in a particular city or province, a basic requirement is to have your application documents ready as job opportunities in “key employment generator” industries in all the 65 job fairs will be abundantly available on 1 May," Baldoz said.

She said among the list of documents required by employers at the job fair are resume or curriculum vitae; 2 x 2 ID pictures (bring extra copies for multiple job applications); certificate of employment, for those formerly employed; diploma and/or transcript of records; and authenticated birth certificate.
As a general procedure for job application on 1 May, new jobseekers will be required to fill-up registration forms which are to be provided at the job fairs. But before 1 May, applicants can already pre-register online through the new PhilJob.net website; or manually, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), in their locality.
"There will be thousands of jobs that would be available in the job fairs. Choose the position that best fits your qualification from the vacancies listing that would be made available at the fairs. Take note of the company's name then proceed to the company's booth,” Baldoz said.
"Better still, do a little research on the company you are interested in. This will be a big help in the interviews. Employers will interview, pre-select, and hire on-the-spot qualified workers, but if the applicant is not qualified, he may opt to look for other vacancies," she added.
The theme of the 2014 Labor Day celebration is ‘Sa Sipag, Tiyaga, at Talino, Buong Mundo Saludo sa Manggagawang Pilipino.' With this theme, the DOLE aims to recognize the invaluable contribution of all Filipino workers to the continued growth and resurgence of the Philippine economy.
“The resiliency of our workers, against all odds, is beyond compare. This Labor Day, we aim to give back the service they deserve by fast-tracking the matching of jobseekers and employers, particularly in identified areas where skills are highly in demand or available through the conduct of Job Fairs,” Baldoz said.
The job fairs are open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, fresh college graduates, graduates of training institutions, displaced workers and employees seeking advancement.
The DOLE is leading the 2014 Labor Day festivities with a renewed commitment to the righteous governance, anti-corruption, anti-poverty drive of the Aquino III administration, whose goal is to reduce, if not eliminate, poverty through inclusive job-rich economic growth.

Manila, Philippines - ABS-CBN on Tuesday morning answers allegations that the newest housemates of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) All In did not audition and have passed through the special process contrary to the experience of over 44,000 other auditionees.

PBB marks history of having perfect ten (10) trending topics on Sunday evening on Twitter Philippines and with "#PBBScripted" landed on top spot wordwide.
Netizens questioned the use of auditions if all the chosen housemates are famous and rich. Some expressed they don't believe in reality shows as they allegedly concern only to the people who are famous or have a handler.
PBB Host Toni Gonzaga on 'Buzz ng Bayan' clarified that PBB is not scripted and the emotions of housemates are real. According to her, 'PBB All In' will showcase interactions between adults, teens and celebrities.
Former PBB housemate Slater Young defended the program by posting a reaction on his Twitter account: PBB is never scripted. :) RT @MukitoNorth: #PBBScripted what can u say ‘bout this trending topic @thatguySLATER?
Meanwhile, one of the comments on PEP says: "With regards to what is happening inside the house, is it still scripted? It's a 50/50 answer. Yes, in a way because the creative team, producers, director manipulates every controllable variable inside the house. They create rules, tasks, control housemates' supplies, even create imaginary scenarios. Housemates reactions however are all genuine. Syempre, maco-control ni ABS kung anong pwedeng ipalabas sa TV, pero every single action from the housemates are genuinely theirs and are only affected by their own feelings and intentions."

The examination was conducted on April 23-24, 2014 in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao and Legazpi.
Librarian board exam was administered by the Board for Librarians headed by Corazon M. Nera, Chairman; Arabella M. Ananoria and Mila M. Ramos, Members.
April 2014 Librarian licensure exam covers the following subjects: organization, management and maintenance of multi-media based library or information service laws, trends and practices affecting the profession, reference, bibliography and information services and selection and acquisition of multi-media source of information (Day 1) and cataloguing and classification, indexing and abstracting and information technology (Day 2).
Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be on May 8 and 9, 2014. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 1 piece passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2014-2017. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.
The date and venue for the oathtaking ceremonies of the new successful examinees in the said examination WILL BE ANNOUNCED LATER, PRC said.
In November 2013 board exam, results were released in two (2) working days after the last day of examination. A total of 382 out of 834 passed the exam. University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman and University of Santo Tomas(UST) were named as the top performing schools by PRC.

10. FOURTH PAGOTAN, 22-year old Chef. BRAD BAIT NG PASAY
Fourth cooks for one of the restaurants in a 5-star luxury hotel in the country. He has a twin brother who’s also a part of PBB All In. Inside the house, he’s the more responsible twin, making him Kuya’s “Brad Bait”. Besides his culinary skills, he also knows how to dance, sing and paint. He’s one of the voice talents for dubbed anime and asianovela programs. He can also impersonate the voices of Gary Valenciano, Janno Gibbs and Gus Abelgas. He has a girlfriend of two years.
11. FIFTH PAGOTAN, 22-year old Businessman. BRAD KULIT NG PASAY
As his moniker suggests, Fifth is the more makulit twin. His twin brother is also a part of PBB All In. He likes pulling pranks and used to make and upload funny videos online. Despite his antics, Fifth is business-minded. He owns a small hamburger stall, on which he is too focused to even have time for a girlfriend. Like his twin brother, Fifth can also sing, dance and draw. He can also do Doraemon voice impersonations.
12. MANOLO PEDROSA, 16-year old Student. WONDER SON NG QUEZON CITY
Manolo is the youngest among 5 siblings. His parents run a business together. He is more open to his mom, while he loves jet skiing and going on hiking trips with his dad. He also plays basketball, frisbee and badminton. Although he studies in one of the most prestigious all-boys high schools in the country, he is very popular among girls from other schools. This year alone, Manolo went to 5 proms! Despite being a heartthrob, Manolo never had a girlfriend because he wants to focus on his studies first as his parents wish.
13. JOSHUA GARCIA, 16-year old Out-of-School Youth. TATAY’S BOY NG BATANGAS
Joshua lives with his dad, stepmom and three half brothers. He regards his father very highly because he sees how his dad is very hardworking. His stepmom treats him as her own and he has a good relationship with his half brothers. He is a member of Batangas’ cultural dance group, Sining Kumintang. He used to be a “Campus Crush”, but had to stop school on his 3rd year in high school due to financial instability. Apart from being a dancer, he also plays basketball and plays the guitar.
14. LOISA ANDALIO, 15-year old Student. TALENTED DARLING NG PARAÑAQUE
Loisa is part of a sing-and-dance girl group called “3G” that performs in mall shows and fiestas. She grew up in a close-knit family; second among 4 siblings. Her dad is a sales manager while her mom is a housewife. Even though she is NBSB (no boyfriend since birth), she prefers making friends with boys because she thinks girls have a tendency to be “plastic”. She plays volleyball and dreams of becoming a flight attendant so she can go to different countries.
15. RANTY PORTENTO, 26-year old Seaman. MAGINOONG MARINO NG QUEZON
Ranty is second among five siblings. His father is a househusband while his mother, who he considers as his best friend, is a photographer and acts as the family’s breadwinner. He wasn’t able to enter college due to financial difficulty. Instead, he finished a 2-year vocational course in HRM (hotel and restaurant management), which lead to him becoming a seaman. Even though he is open-minded and a good listener, he can also be short-tempered at times. He has a girlfriend and they’ve been together for 8 months now.
16. MARIS RACAL, 16-year old Student. SINGING SUNSHINE NG DAVAO
Davao’s Singing Sunshine grew up in a musically inclined close-knit family. Both her parents sing and her dad also plays the guitar. But Maris learned how to play the guitar on her own by watching videos on the internet – the same way she learned how to play the piano, ukulele and the beatbox. Besides music, Maris also excels in acting and in dancesport. She is admittedly still in love with her ex-boyfriend whom she had to break up with because her parents found out about their secret relationship. Will her stay inside the big and yellow house help her get over her lost love?
17. AINA SOLANO, 21-year old Encoder. DANCING BOMBSHELL NG BORACAY
Aina was born in Boracay and was raised there until her family moved to Geneva, Switzerland when she 8yo. She finished her studies there, and also tried to work as a hiphop teacher for kids. She recently moved back to Boracay on her own to try her luck out here, leaving her family and Moroccan boyfriend in Geneva. Aina knows how to swim like a mermaid after being trained in a mermaid school in Boracay.
18. ALEX GONZAGA, 26-year old SASSY SISTER NG RIZAL
The younger sister of one of the biggest Kapamilya Stars today, Alma recently made her comeback as a Kapamilya Star last year as a co-host for The Voice of the Philippines and as a regular on Banana Nite. Like her older sister, Alma is a triple threat who can act, host and perform on stage. But despite comparisons, Alma is still able to keep her individuality; veering away from her ate’s shadows, she is able to make a name for herself. In fact, this proves to be an even bigger year for Alma – taking on the challenge of co-hosting The Voice of the Philippines Kids with Luis Manzano, and joining the all-star set of hosts of PBB All In together with her older sister. Jane is a teen actress whose television career started when she was just a toddler. After a couple of TV commercials, she was casted to play the young Istah in Marina and became a regular on Goin’ Bulilit. After graduating from Goin’ Bulilit and blossoming into a beautiful teen actress, she got meatier roles in different teleseryes. She is now acknowledged as a serious artist after she bagged a Best Actress nomination in the 2013 New York Festivals for her role as “Nene” in MMK’s “Manika.”
Jane never had a boyfriend, not even an on-screen partner. Her being NBSB (No Boyfriend Since Birth) is by choice, but will love find its way into her heart while inside Kuya’s House? After all, anything can happen inside the famous blue and yellow house, right?
2. AXEL TORRES, 19-year old Student. JOCK-NEXT-DOOR NG TAGUIG
Axel is the eldest of seven siblings. He and his brothers are both athletic scholars; definitely a big help in the family’s economic condition. In grade school and high school, he was part of the La Salle varsity team. When he reached college, he only made it to Team B unlike his brother who is a legitimate La Salle Green Archer. Even with his good looks and strong appeal, he never an official girlfriend. He has been dating someone for two years now, but still hasn’t asked her to be his girlfriend. Will his stay in Kuya’s House finally give him the courage to take things on a another level with the girl he’s been dating?

Nichole is the daughter of TV host and celebrity, Phoemela Baranda. She was raised by her lola whom she fondly called “Mommy La”, and didn’t become close to her mom until her grandmother passed away in 2009. She is a second year high school student at Colegio de San Agustin and is a part of the CSA Dance Troupe. She moves her nose in a cat-like way a lot, a mannerism that she thinks she got from her mom. She always wanted to have a big brother.
4. CHEVIN KLEIN CECILIO, 22-year old Property Specialist. SIMPATIKONG SALESMAN NG CAMSUR
Chevin’s family story is that of riches to rags because of a failed business venture. He is supposed to be in his 1st year as an IT student in college, but didn’t pursue schooling anymore. He is now trying his luck in real estate sales. He has been single for the last three years because he is focusing on helping his family financially. He enjoys playing basketball with his brothers and friends during his free time.
5. CESS MAE VISITACION, 23-year old Raketera. BIBA RAKETERA NG VALENZUELA
Cess is the breadwinner of their family. Her dad is a tricycle driver while her mother is a housewife. She has two younger brothers, and she dreams of sending them to school some day. She’s a certified raketera who would take on any job just to support her family – from peddling soap and other beauty products to taking on bit roles on TV and commercials. 6. JACOB BENEDICTO, 21-year old theater actor. CUTIE CROONER NG PARAÑAQUE
Because his father was an expat, Jacob grew up in Indonesia where he first discovered his gift of music. He was the drummer of a pre-teen band, one of the cool kids and enjoyed school life. When he came back to the Philippines, he had to make a big adjustment as he had difficulty speaking Tagalog. But eventually, he was able to make friends as he dabbled in musical theatre, film and now, Kuya has opened his door for Jacob. Will he finally find his place in the sun?

Jayme grew up in a conservative and religious family. She has two sisters and a brother. She’s very close to her mom but often consults her dad whenever she needs advise on anything. She loves to draw (mostly anime characters) and paint. She wanted to be a Fine Arts student but pursued a degree in Nursing because it is what her parents want for her. 8. VICKIE RUSHTON, 21-year old model. LADY MAHINHIN NG BACOLOD
Half-Pinay, half-British Vickie Rushton is a Bacolod-based model who also wants to pursue a career as a Flight Attendant so she can travel. She joins beauty contests for the prize money and to make her visually impaired mother proud. In 2011, she bagged the Mutya ng Pilipinas International title. She is in a relationship with Jason Abalos and they’ve been together for almost a year now.
9. MICHELLE GUMABAO, 21-year old host and volleyball player. SPUNKY SPIKER NG QUEZON CITY
Michelle is a familiar face among volleyball fans. She’s a former star of the DLSU Lady Spikers, with an MVP award for Women’s Volleyball under her belt from the 75th UAAP Season. During her term in DLSU, she did not only deliver on the court, but was also a consistent Dean’s Lister until she graduated with a degree in Marketing Management. Her dad is former actor-politician turned pastor, Dennis Roldan.

"Baby Israel Pacquiao was born at 3:22pm and weighed 8 lbs and 1 ounce. He's 2 weeks premature but doctors say he's a healthy baby!," Mark Zambrano of GMA News posted on his Instagram account.
Zambrano reported around 2:17pm today that Manny Pacquiao followed his wife into the operating room for her first C-section birth. He posted also on his Instagram account a photo with Manny Pacquiao giving a thumbs-up after seeing Israel in the incubator.
Earlier, the boxing champ posted on his own Instagram a photo of him saying a prayer for his wife before the Caesarian delivery.
"Please pray for my wife as she is having our baby boy Israel in just a few hours.", Manny said.
The Pacquiaos have four other children: Emmanuel Jr., Michael, Princess, and Queen Elizabeth.

The ceremony takes place at the St. Peter's Square where million of people flocked. This historic event will be hosted by reigning Pope Francis and Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI, where they will raise their predecessor "the glory of the altars."
In the Philippines, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle leads Filipno Catholics in a special tribute to two great popes. Thousands troop to the event titled Shepherds, Servants and Saints at the Smart Araneta Coliseum featuring a live feed of the canonization rites at the Vatican and a Mass by Tagle.

Calvento's statement is following the arrest of Cedric Lee and Simeon 'Zimmer' Raz on Saturday morning in Eastern Samar. They were arrested by the the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and with the support of Operatives of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines ISAFP).
Cedric Lee and Zimmer were brought to Manila in handcuff today at 7:30AM via Tacloban PAL flight.
Cornejo is one of the suspects in the mauling incident happened in Forbeswood Heights Condominium, Taguig City last January 22.
Cornejo filed rape charges against Navarro but the Department of Justice (DOJ) junked the case for lack of evidence.
Calvento also revealed that Deniece Cornejo is still in the country with the other suspects and now sleep in their vehicles because they can't even check in at the hotels and resorts for fear of being recognized.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) alerted all ports in the country to prevent the escape of Cornejo and Cedric group which are now considered fugitives.
The warrant of arrest was issued by the Taguig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) branch 74 on April 21 for serious illegal detention, a non-bailable offense, against them. Meanwhile, Cornejo posted bail on the warrant of arrest issued for the grave coercion case.
Calvento gave details of the arrest of fugitives on his Facebook page:
"They had them tracked down in the Eastern Samar area in one of the vacation house after they moved around in a pick up along the Bicol area sleeping in the pick-up vehicle of Zimmer. They were escorted by a local policeman.
The law enforcers decided to sit it out patiently because only Warrants of Arrests last Holy Monday were issued for the Grave Coercion case which was a bailable crime.
After Judge Paz Esperanza Cortez found Probabale Cause to issue Warrants for the accused the operatives started moving in.
They lost contact with the group when Cedric closed his mobile phone or had no signal when they went trekking up the mountains when on Holy Monday the Judge Cortez issued ordered their arrest.
The place they were in was beginning to have transients and they feared that they would be recognized.
They went down the mountain when they realized it was a rebel infested area (NPA) camps and training camps all over the place.
Cedric Lee continued using his mobile phone (line) and the signals were easily picked up by the operatives. He had a Globe and Smart line and was using it alternately.
They decided to go there because Zimmer has relatives in Brgy. Solsogon and Dolores, Eastern Samar.
This morning their local driver (not the John Doe) was first to be arrested. He was driving Zimmer Raz' pick-up.
Shortly after lunch, Cedric and Zimmer were concerned and had no choice but to surrender or die should they resist.
This is considered an arrest and not a surrender.
Cedric Lee refused to answer questions without a lawyer which is his right to do so after they were Mirandized (or read their rights i.e. The right to remain silent… The right to counsel… Anything they say could be used against them in a court of law etc.)."
According to Calvento, other suspects in the mauling case Jed Fernanadez and Ferdinand Guerrero were warned by the Sec. Leila Delima to surrender or face the risk of getting hurt.
Calvento on his Facebook page reports breakthrough in the mauling case. From Day 1, Calvento shows continuous support to Navarro in seeking of justice against Deniece and Cedric.

The list of newest Housemates will be revealed today, April 27, 2014 on 'ASAP 19', 'Buzz ng Bayan' and during the premiere telecast of "Pinoy Big Brother: All In" at 8:45 p.m.

"PBB: All In" will have a primetime telecast on weekdays to be hosted by Toni Gonzaga. Meanwhile, its "Uber" episodes, which will also air daily on afternoons, will be co-hosted by Bianca Gonzalez, John Prats, Robi Domingo, and Alex Gonzaga.

Manila, Philippines - "Meteor Garden" star Barbie Hsu, more popularly known as Shan Cai in the country gave birth to a baby girl via Caesarean section on Thursday afternoon at a hospital in Taipei.
The 37-year old Taiwanese actress shared some of the photos of the new born baby with his husband Wang Xiaofei on image-sharing site Instagram.
Barbie called her little baby which weighs 3kg the 'Little Shan Cai' as she captioned in one of Instagram posts.
"Thank you everyone for the congratulations! It's a healthy baby! :)" Barbie Hsu said on Twitter.
She also posted, “‘Little angel’/‘leggy girl’ born April 24 15:30 Local time (Taiwan).”
Barbie Hsu married Chinese millionaire Wang Xiaofei on March 22, 2011 after a whirlwind courtship of 20 days.
The as-yet-unnamed child is the couple's first following their marriage.

Manila, Philippines - Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila de Lima on Saturday, April 26, 2014 announced that fugitive businessman Cedric Lee and Simeon Raz known as Zimmer Raz, 2 of the 7 accused in the mauling of comedian Vhong Navarro, were arrested in Oras, Eastern Samar.
De Lima said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), with support from the local Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP), arrested the two at 11:15 a.m. today.
"For the past few days, talaga namang tina track down na ng NBI yung kanilang mga location. More or less as of yesterday, we knew the general area kasi parang naging mobile sila. They hopped from area to another - from Quezon to Bicol, to Sorsogon and then finally sa Eastern Samar," De Lima said.
De Lima instructed the arresting team to immediately bring Cedric and Zimmer Raz to Manila.
"Dadalin sila sa Manila, sa NBI. In the meantime, doon muna sila sa NBI detention facility and we will await the commitment order from the RTC [Regional Trial Court] Taguig. Ang RTC Taguig ang magdedesisyon kung saan talaga sila dapat ilagay pending the arraignment, pending the trial of the case," she said.
