At exactly 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will once again address the Filipino nation, reflecting on the country's progress while laying out his vision for the future.
Simpler Ceremony
Malacañang said President Marcos' fifth State of the Nation Address will feature a simple yet dignified program, with no celebrity directors or A-list performers.
Castro also announced that the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Chorale has been selected to perform the Philippine national anthem during the SONA.
There will also be no red carpet, a traditional highlight of the annual event, especially for lawmakers and their spouses.
Who will attend the SONA?
President Marcos Jr.'s SONA today will bring together lawmakers, Cabinet members, members of the diplomatic corps, military and police officials, members of the judiciary, and other invited dignitaries at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.
The event will also mark the first SONA under the leadership of House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III and Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian, who assumed their posts following recent leadership changes in their respective chambers.
Noticeably absent will be Vice President Sara Duterte, who is currently abroad and is not expected to return to the Philippines until July 31. She last attended the SONA in 2023, when she and President Marcos were still political allies.
The House of Representatives expects around 2,000 invited guests to attend this year's SONA.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to use his fifth SONA to report on his administration's accomplishments, outline its remaining priorities, and set the agenda for the final two years of his term.
As his penultimate SONA, political observers say this year's speech is an opportunity for Marcos to define the legacy he hopes to leave before stepping down in 2028.
Constitutional lawyer Atty. Howard Calleja said the President should use the address to present a lasting vision for the country.
"Kung may gusto siyang itatak sa mga Pilipino ngayon na dapat niya sabihin... Ito ang legacy SONA niya dapat. Something he will be remembered with and something na puwede niyang ituloy sa susunod na administrasyon," Calleja said.
Marcos has also hinted that corruption may again be a key topic, telling reporters on Friday, "Stay tuned for the next chapter," when asked if he would revisit the issue in this year's speech.
Mandated under Article VII, Section 23 of the 1987 Constitution, the SONA is the President's annual report to Congress on the state of the nation and the administration's priorities. It is delivered every fourth Monday of July before a joint session of Congress.

The traditional ceremony is expected to begin at 4:00 p.m., with the President arriving either by air or land.
