National ID holders get free MRT-3 rides every Wednesday this August 2025

MANILA, Philippines – Good news for commuters!

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) is offering free rides every Wednesday this August 2025 to passengers who present their Philippine National ID.

The free rides will be available on August 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2025 during two time windows: from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The initiative is in support of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s goal to promote the widespread use of the National ID system.

The administration aims to make public and private transactions more convenient, as well as to speed up the delivery of social services through inclusive digital identification.

Passengers may present any form of the National ID—whether it's the physical card, a printed paper version, or a digital copy—to security personnel at the service gate of MRT-3 stations to avail of the free ride.

The program also coincides with the celebration of the anniversary of the National ID Act, following a request from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
