HIGHLIGHTS: Beatrice Luigi Gomez in the Top 5 of 70th Miss Universe

MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez didn't disappoint the Filipino fans as she entered the Top 5 of the 70th Miss Universe on Monday, December 13.

While she failed to enter the next round, Bea still earned the praise of the Pinoy fans.

Dubbed as the "Most beautiful day in the Universe," pageant enthusiasts and fans tuned in to watch 80 beauty queens all over the world.

Marian Rivera is one of the judges in today's coronation event. Steve Harvey was also this year's host.

When Bea landed on the top 16 of the pageant, she got the support of the crowd. The Philippines now holds a record of 12 consecutive semifinals placements, since 2010.

During the interview, Steve asked Bea about her special tattoo on her sleeve. According to the Cebuana beauty queen, she got the cherry blossom tattoo on her 23rd birthday as a sign of her rebirth. She added it was a celebration of her womanhood.

Next program was the swimsuit competition, Bea sashayed down in a maroon-colored swimwear, accentuated with a leopard print scarf.


Bea got the applause of many when she got in the Top 10. During her video, Bea was introduced as a daughter of a single mom. She said she looked up to her mother as her epitome of women empowerment. Bea's involvement in the Philippine Marines as an army reservist. She explained she wanted to serve the vulnerable communities in her place in Cebu.

After two years since Catriona Gray won the Miss Universe 2018, this is the first time the Philippines got included back in the Top 10.

For the evening gown, Bea looked radiant in an intricate golden gown made by Francis Libiran. It had custom embroidery that depicted the tribal patterns called "Pintados." According to Miss Universe Philippines, the gold couture gown had "thousands of crystals carefully hand-sewn onto the piece, this represents hope and unparalleled beauty, culture, history and traditions of the Philippines."

During the Q & A of the Top 5, Bea was asked for her opinion on the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination passport. She agreed saying public health is everyone's responsibility.


The Top 3 are Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu, Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira and Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane.

21-year-old Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu was crowned the 70th Miss Universe.
