    MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines Office of Admissions is expected to announce soon the schedule of application and details for the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) 2021.

    With the ongoing threat of COVID-19, UP is still studying the administration of the entrance test for SY 2021-2022.

    "Due to the pandemic situation, UPCAT 2021 test administration is being studied and planned more extensively. Schedule of application shall be announced soon. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!," the national university said in a statement.


    Last year, UP opened the online application in July with the nationwide exam set in October.

    Qualification/Minimum application requirements (for update):
    • Senior high school student expecting to graduate before SY 2021-2022 from a DepEd-accredited high school or an accredited secondary school abroad; OR
    • Graduate of a DepEd- accredited high school or accredited secondary school abroad; AND
    • Must have final grades for three (3) high school years preceding the year of graduation;
    • Must not have taken any college subject/s prior to taking the UPCAT; AND
    • Must not have taken the UPCAT before.

    How to apply for UPCAT?

    Once schedule is available, here are the steps for the submission of application:

    Step 1. Fill out Application Form 1 (UPCAT Application for Freshman Admission) online at https://upcatonline.up.edu.ph/. Manual application will only be available in selected regional areas.

    Step 2. Give UPCAT Form 2 (Secondary School Record) to your high school principal/school head to be filled out.

    Step 3. FOR NON-FILIPINO APPLICANTS ONLY: Pay the UPCAT Application fee.

    Step 4. Submit the completed UPCAT Forms 1 and 2 and all other required documents.

    Step 5. Claim your Test Permit.

    About UPCAT

    In line with the university's commitment to high standards of academic excellence, undergraduate degree programs in UP require qualification through the UPCAT. UP also takes affirmative steps in its admission process to enhance the access of disadvantaged students to high quality education. Tuition is free in UP.

    UPCAT is consists of 4 subtests: Language Proficiency (in English and Filipino), and Reading Comprehension (in English and Filipino), Science, and Math.

    Standardized UPCAT scores are combined with the weighted average of the last 3 years of high school final grades to determine the UP admission grade (UPG). To implement the policy of demographic access, UP also considers socioeconomic and geographic factors in its admission process.

    UPCAT Results and updates

    In the previous examinations, UP usually provides the tentative release of UPCAT results, normally in April. Results of the 2020 exam was released late May, with delay due to COVID-19 pandemic.
