The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released on Wednesday the schedule of licensure exam for teachers (LET) for 2020. The schedule of LET board exam (Elementary and Secondary) is included in the PRC Resolution No. 1210 s. 2019 and pursuant to Section 7 (d) of R.A. 8981, authorizing the Commission to determine and fix the places and dates of examinations.

RELATED ARTICLES

As announced, the first LET for 2020 is set on March 29 (Sunday). This will be conducted in the National Capital Region (NCR), all regional offices nationwide, Zamboanga and Bacolod.

NOTE: Requests for additional testing centers outside the PRC Regional Offices shall be in accordance with PRC Resolution No. 2012-675 series of 2012 dated August 24, 2012, "Designation of other cities outside PRC Regional Offices as additional testing center for LET."

The opening of online processing for March 2020 LET started on October 17, 2019 with the deadline of filing scheduled on January 23, 2020.

On November 18, PRC Tacloban announced the acceptance of applicants for March 2020 LET.

Date: December 4, 2019 to January 29, 2020
Venue: PRC Application Hub located in 2nd Floor, Robinson’s North, Abucay, Tacloban City
Time: 8:00 A.M – 5:00 P.M. (Monday to Friday)

For convenience and faster transaction, applicants are encouraged to avail the online payment channels through UCPB (over-the-counter), Landback (i-access), or PayMaya."

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A citizen of the Philippines or an alien whose country has reciprocity with the Philippines

2. At least eighteen (18) years old

3. Of good moral character and good reputation with high moral values; has not been convicted by final judgment by court for an offense involving moral turpitude

REQUIREMENTS

1. NSO / PSA Birth Certificate

2. NSO / PSA Marriage Contract (for married female applicants)

3. Transcript of Records with scanned picture and Remarks "For Board Examination Purposes" (First Timer & Repeater)

4. Payment: P900.00 - complete

A bachelor's degree in education or its equivalent with a major and minor and the degrees which shall be considered equivalent; must have to take at least 18 units in Professional Education, or a bachelor's degree in arts and sciences with at least ten units in professional education.

LIMITED USE OF CALCULATOR

PRC announced the limited use of calculator for teacher board exam. This includes the following conditions:

1. Only Mathematics major (under Specialization subject) would require examinees to use the calculator.

2. Calculators have the following features only: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, trigonometric function, logarithm and xy.

3. Only one (1) calculator per examinee shall be allowed inside the examination room.

4. All calculators shall be thoroughly inspected by the examination personnel.

PREVIOUS EXAMINATIONS

In the March 2019 LET, PRC announced results in forty-two (42) working days after the exam. A total of 19,659 elementary teachers out of 72,054 examinees (27.28%) and 22,271 secondary teachers out of 85,823 examinees (25.95%) successfully passed the LET. Stephanie Apple Miguel Piodo of Compostela Valley State College - Montevista Branch topped the elementary level with 93.20%. Honey Gracielle Decosto Baclayo of University of Mindanao - Davao City led the passers for Secondary level with 93.40%. University of Southeatern Philippines (USeP) - Tagum topped the schools for elementary with 85.71%. University of the Philippines (UP) - Diliman dominated the secondary level test with 90.77% passing rate.

In the March 2018 LET, results were out in forty (40) working days. A total of 13,774 elementary teachers out of 58,323 examinees (23.62%) and 22,936 secondary teachers out of 76,673 examinees (29.91%) successfully passed the tests. John Michael Tagayon dela Paz of UP - Diliman aced the Elementary level exam with 88.80%. Kier Araula Baugbog from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela topped the secondary level exam with 92.40%. None of the schools qualified for the top performing school list for Elementary. Meanwhile, UPD led the schools for Secondary.
