Magpasikat 2019: Team Anne and Amy performs 'world-class' gymnastics

MANILA, Philippines – It's Showtime's Magpasikat 2019 opened the week with a thrilling performance from Team Anne and Amy.

In celebration of the noontime show's 10th anniversary, the cast was joined by the madlang people in a festive grand performances at the Resorts World Manila.

On Tuesday, Anne Curtis and Amy Perez were joined by Bida Men.

They went nostalgic looking back at the milestones their show has been through.

Anne and Amy opened their performance with a captivating ballet dance number with the latter even doing a headstand. As the Pedro P. Cruz children's choir serenaded the audience with their rendition of The Chainsmokers' song "Something Just Like This."

Bida Men joined Anne to render an exhilarating performance on a huge rotating wheel. Anne earned the spotlight for her impressive gymnastics on a German wheel or a Rhoenrad.

They closed their number with Anne singing the song "Forever Young" on a giant sparkling ball spinning high above the stage along with aerial gymnasts.

After their number, Anne got emotional to share how much they worked hard. She said for 10 years, she has been known as the Magpasikat's Stunt Princess. "Lahat ng stunts ginagawa ko dito..sumabit pa ako ng building," Anne said.

The German wheel or a Rhoenrad used by Anne isn't available here in the Philippines. She had to import it from abroad for the performance.

The hurados this year are MTRCB Chair Rachel Arenas, former ballerina Shirley Halili-Cruz, topnotch choreographer Andy Alvis, former matinee idol Diether Ocampo, head of Public Affairs and Information Office of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines (NCAA) Rene Napeñas, TV host Tim Yap, Lord of Scents Joel Cruz, celebrity doctor Vicki Belo, veteran news anchor Tina Monzon- Palma and punong hurado actor Edu Manzano.

MTRCB Chair Rachel Arenas was the first to give her comment. She said how much she appreciated Anne was always pushing the limits.

Shirley Halili-Cruz called it an "excellent performance with a wonderful message. She added, "The execution was perfect."

Andy Alvis said it felt like watching a show in "Las Vegas." Rene Napeñas said "di lang magpasikat but nagpasabog!"

Joel Cruz called it "very impressive, world-class performance." Dra. Vicki Belo compared the team to the famed "Cirque du Soleil."

Back in 2016, Anne and Tiyang Amy were awarded as the grand winners for their death-defying act when they rapelled down a tall building.

Last year, it was the Broadway-inspired performance of Team Karylle and Jhong that brought home the grand prize.
