UPDATE: UPCAT 2020 results out

"UPCAT 2020 results are now out! Iskolar ng Bayan, hinihintay ka na ng UP at bayan!

Taos-pusong pinagpupugayan ang bagong henerasyon ng mga estudyante ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas. Mabuhay kayo, pag-asa ng bayan! Paglingkuran ang sambayanan," UP Office of the Student Regent tweeted.

To view the results, please go to the UPCAT main website https://upcatresults.up.edu.ph/. Log-in with your e-mail address to view your application status.

NOTE: Due to large volume of users accessing the UPCAT website, server may be down. Try to access the results page later.

The Student Regent also advised takers to "wait for official announcements from the Admissions office/your respective campus administration/local student council for next steps."

RELATED RESULTS

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the enhanced community quarantine, announcement of UPCAT results has been delayed for several months.

"The Office of Admissions, like all other units and offices in the University of the Philippines, has had to adapt by operating with only a tiny fraction of its workforce to complete the necessary validation procedures and the final computations of results for over 100,000 UPCAT examinees," UP said in a statement.

"We understand your concern about the pending release of UPCAT 2020 results, but rest assured that the Office of Admissions continues to do its utmost despite severe limitations and challenges. The results are targeted for release within the month of May," it added.

UPCAT Results Update

Dr. Elena Pernia, UP VP for Public Affairs, gave an update on the UPCAT results in an interview with Radyo Katipunan's Noel Ferrer during the talk with academic affairs heads of Big Four schools on quarantine concerns and post-lockdown scenarios in the universities last April 16.

Medyo natigil ng konti kasi yung lockdown nga hindi pa natapos. Ang ginawa namin, sinundo sila mga nagtratrabaho para sa UPCAT. Naka-house sila sa university para gawin yun.

"Malamang end of the month para may kasiguraduhan?" Ferrer asked if results will be released within the month (April).

"Ayaw ko magsabi," Pernia said while confirming the target is on month end.

Fast forward to 1:19:30 to learn more about the conversation.

On March 28, UP announced the postponement of release of UPCAT 2020 results, which was originally scheduled on March 30, 2020. In a statement, UP said it was prompted by two considerations:

1) the reality that the UPCAT applicants will have different levels of access to online results in light of the Luzon Enhanced Community Quarantine;

2) the need to suspend UPCAT processing after March 16, 2020 in consideration of the welfare of the large team of employees working on the pre-release validation of UPCAT results—who live in various locations within and at the outskirts of Metro Manila.

How to view UPCAT Results?

Same with previous exam, UPCAT 2020 results will be available online. Please go to the UPCAT main website https://upcatresults.up.edu.ph/.

Carefully read the instructions on how to view your application results.
  • Log in with the email and password you used in your online application.
  • If you applied manually, use the contact email address you put in your UPCAT application to create new account.
  • If you have problems logging in, please follow the instructions provided.
  • If you received an offer for admission, you are required to reply on a specified date.
  • Replies to the offer after the deadline will no longer be considered.

UPCAT this year was administered on October 5 and 6 in various testing centers across the country.

It is taken yearly by graduating high school students in the Philippines seeking entry into the national university.

Last year, there were a total of 140,593 applicants for UPCAT 2019, though only 101,134 were eligible. Out of the eligible applicants, 90,408 took the exams. Thirteen percent or 11,821 were qualified for admission.

NOTE: Under UP’s complicated but well-studied admission rules, the results of the UPCAT exam itself make up just 60 percent of an applicant’s University Predicted Grade or UPG, an assessment of the student’s likelihood of succeeding in UP. The balance is made up for by an averaging of the applicant’s high school grades, plus a small plus or minus to encourage economic, social, and geographical diversity.

The UPCAT is consists of 4 subtests: Language Proficiency (in English and Filipino), Reading Comprehension (in English and Filipino), Science, and Math.

NOTE: Passers of UPCAT are screened for acceptance into one of the degree programs they chose. Different grade predictors are used for different programs. Campus qualifiers are ranked according to the degree program predictor. Top-ranking qualifiers are accepted according to the number of slots available for that program.

UP Oblation Scholarship

Since 1991, the UP Oblation Scholarship has been awarded to the top fifty UPCAT students. The benefits include free tuition, miscellaneous and laboratory fees, and a monthly incentive.

Recipients may enjoy the UP Oblation Scholarship throughout the normal length of time required to finish their chosen degree program, provided they maintain the required grade point average. For those in the accelerated medical program (INTARMED), however, only the first four years are covered by this grant.

A number of scholarships, study grants and awards donated by government and private companies or individuals, are also available for the Office of Scholarships and Student Services. Most are intended for financially needy students, though some are awarded in recognition of outstanding academic performance.

While it has applied a socialized tuition scheme for many decades now, UP led other state universities and colleges last year by implementing full free tuition ahead of the signing of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act or the free tuition law.

UP among world's best

UP was recently ranked in the 401-500 group among the 1,396 ranked research universities, according to the Times Higher Education survey. This was UP’s fourth year in the rankings.

  18. They are not telling the truth. They said that the result will be before the month of May 2020. Then, they publish that the results will outlast online in their website but unfortunately, I have tried a more than times it wasn't. You know sirs/mam as a parent it is also our right to know the results of the exams of our children so that we can plan for the next move if in case that our child is not pass the said exam. I know that some staff in the prestigious school in UP are also parents. I hope you could understand our remarkable feeling towards this unreleased results as of this moment. May God give you a right wisdom towards our children who wants to be like your's and to us as their parents.
