MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has suspended work in government offices and classes at all levels in the National Capital Region (NCR) and 22 provinces on Thursday, August 6, 2026, due to the continued heavy rainfall brought by Tropical Storm Maymay and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
The suspension was ordered through Memorandum Circular No. 122, issued on August 5, 2026, upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Under the memorandum, work in government offices and classes at all levels are suspended in the following areas:
- National Capital Region (NCR)
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Benguet
- Pangasinan
- Abra
- Zambales
- Kalinga
- Mountain Province
- Ifugao
- Ilocos Norte
- Apayao
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Tarlac
- Nueva Ecija
- Bataan
- Pampanga
- Bulacan
- Rizal
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Laguna
- Occidental Mindoro
The memorandum directs agencies responsible for the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other essential services to continue their operations and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of necessary public services.
It also states that local chief executives in areas not covered by the memorandum may implement localized suspension of classes and work in government offices in their respective jurisdictions, subject to existing laws, rules, and regulations.

Meanwhile, the suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective employers or management.
The circular took effect immediately upon its issuance and was signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto by authority of the President.
