The 21-year-old Filipina completed a remarkable comeback after the rain-delayed final resumed in Washington, D.C., where she picked up from a 2-1 lead in the second set before dominating the rest of the match to secure the biggest victory of her career.
Eala needed just one hour and 43 minutes of total playing time across two days to dethrone the tournament's top seed, avenging her semifinal loss to Pegula at the 2025 Miami Open.
