MANILA, Philippines — Many Facebook users reported experiencing issues accessing the social media platform on Sunday afternoon, July 19, with reports beginning to spike at around 3:18 p.m. Philippine time.
Several affected users trying to access Facebook through a web browser were greeted with the following error message:
"Account Temporarily Unavailable."
Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.
Based on user reports, the issue appears to be affecting Facebook's web version, while the Facebook mobile app continues to work normally for many users. Users have also reported that Instagram's desktop version is experiencing similar issues, while the Instagram mobile app appears to remain accessible for many users. However, Meta has not yet confirmed the scope of the problem.
At the same time, outage monitoring website Downdetector Philippines showed a sharp increase in user reports, indicating that many people were encountering problems with Facebook.
Facebook, owned by Meta, is one of the world's largest social networking platforms, allowing users to share posts, photos and videos, send messages, join Groups, browse Marketplace, and stay connected through the News Feed. Instagram, also owned by Meta, is a popular photo and video-sharing platform used by millions of people worldwide.
As of posting, Meta and the official Facebook and Instagram channels have not yet issued a statement regarding the reported outage or its cause.
It remains unclear how widespread the issue is or when normal service will be fully restored.
Users experiencing the problem are advised to wait a few minutes and try accessing their accounts again later, as the error message indicates the issue is likely temporary.
