MANILA, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has extended the acceptance of CPD Undertaking for the renewal of Professional Identification Cards (PIC) or PRC Licenses until June 30, 2026.
The announcement was made via a Facebook post on Friday, December 26, following a previous extension under Resolution No. 1908, Series of 2024, which allowed acceptance of CPD Undertaking until December 31, 2025.
This means that professionals can renew their licenses even with incomplete or no Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units by submitting a CPD Undertaking, without incurring additional fees.
Steps to Renew Your PRC License Using CPD Undertaking
- Log in to PRC LERIS, check photo requirements, and select Renewal.
- Choose your Profession and provide your PRC License Number.
- Select Renewal with Undertaking if you lack CPD units.
- Pay the renewal fee through PRC-accredited payment channels.
- Choose either PRC branch appointment or PRC ID delivery (shipping).
- If shipping, wait for instructions on delivery fees and address. If branch pickup, appear on your scheduled date.
- Receive your renewed PRC ID.
By signing the CPD Undertaking, professionals commit to completing the required CPD units during the next renewal cycle. Those who executed a CPD Undertaking in the previous renewal may still submit one this time.
As clarified by PRC, “execution of CPD Undertaking is not a waiver from CPD compliance; the required units will be added to the next renewal cycle.”
Why the Extension?
PRC explained that the extension provides sufficient time for:
- Orientations and capacity building on proposed revised guidelines for the Recognition, Validation, and Accreditation (RVA) of learning outcomes from Self-directed Learning (SDL), Professional Work Experience (PWE), and Informal Learning (IL).
- Enhancing the CPD Accreditation System.
About CPD
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is mandated under Section 10, Article III of Republic Act No. 10912, or the CPD Act of 2016, aiming to ensure that registered professionals maintain competencies, meet global standards, and adapt to evolving industry needs.
PRC highlights multiple ways to earn CPD units:
- Formal Learning: Master’s or doctoral programs.
- Non-Formal Learning: Conferences, trainings, publications, or consultancy work.
- Volunteer Engagement: Medical missions, environmental projects, or disaster assistance.
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) may be exempt upon presenting proof of overseas employment and can earn units through virtual seminars or webinars accredited by government CPD providers.
In recent years, several lawmakers proposed bills to amend or abolish the CPD law, citing financial burdens for professionals. These measures remain pending or did not push through.
