MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units (LGUs) have announced the suspension of classes on Thursday, November 6, 2025, following the aftermath of Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi).

This list will be updated as soon as local or national authorities make their advisories.

Mimaropa

  • Palawan
    • Quezon – all levels, public and private

Central Visayas

  • Cebu province
    • Cordova – no face-to-face classes in all levels, public; until Friday, November 7
  • Cebu City – all levels, public; until Friday, November 7
  • Lapu-Lapu City – no face-to-face classes in all levels, public; until Friday, November 7
  • Mandaue City – all levels, public; until Friday, November 7

Negros Island Region

  • Negros Occidental
    • Calatrava – all levels, public and private
    • Sagay City – all levels, public and private; until Friday, November 7
    • Talisay – all levels, public and private; until Friday, November 7
    • Hinoba-an – no face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private; until Friday, November 7
  • Negros Oriental
    • Siaton – all levels, public and private; until further notice

According to PAGASA’s 5:00 PM bulletin on Wednesday, the center of Typhoon Tino was estimated based on all available data at 330 km East Northeast of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan.

The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 170 km/h, and central pressure of 970 hPa.

On the forecast track, Tino will continue moving west northwestward over the West Philippine Sea and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tonight or tomorrow (November 6) early morning.

Tino is forecast to re-intensify in the next 12 hours and may reach its peak intensity while over the West Philippine Sea.

Automatic Class Suspensions

In December 2024, the Department of Education (DepEd) released revised guidelines on the suspension of classes and work in schools during natural calamities.
