MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units (LGUs) have announced the suspension of classes on Friday, October 10, 2025, following a magnitude 7.5 earthquake that struck offshore Davao Oriental.

This list will be updated as soon as local or national authorities make their advisories.

Mindanao

  • Davao City – all levels, public and private
  • Agusan del Sur – all levels, public and private
  • General Santos City – all levels, public and private
  • Mati City – all levels, public and private
  • Davao de Oro – all levels, public and private; including government work
  • Davao del Sur
    • Santa Cruz – all levels, public and private; switch to asynchronous learning
  • Davao Oriental – all levels, public and private; including work in public and private offices
  • Cotabato
    • Antipas – all levels, public and private
    • Arakan – all levels, public and private
    • Cotabato City – all levels, public and private
    • Kabacan – all levels, public and private
    • Kidapawan – all levels, public and private
    • Magpet – all levels, public and private
    • Matalam – all levels, public and private

Shortly after the earthquake, Phivolcs issued a tsunami warning for several eastern coastal provinces, cautioning residents of destructive tsunami waves exceeding one meter above normal tide levels.

Communities in the following provinces were strongly advised to evacuate immediately to higher grounds or move farther inland:

  • Eastern Samar
  • Dinagat Islands
  • Davao Oriental
  • Southern Leyte
  • Leyte
  • Surigao del Norte
  • Surigao del Sur
