“I am a school counselor associate, a graduate student, a clinical psychology intern, and at one point, a board exam taker — all at the same time,” Princes shared, recalling the weight of her responsibilities. She exclusively shared her story to The Summit Express, hoping to inspire others who are also striving against all odds.

A proud cum laude graduate of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) in 2024, Princes carried with her the discipline and determination that shaped her academic journey.

“Psychology has always fascinated me,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to understand people better and help them, especially in the area of mental health.”

Balancing Roles Beyond Limits

Her college years were far from easy, as she balanced academics, household duties, and the struggles of being a working student while aiming high in her studies.

Balancing everything after graduation became even more challenging, with weekdays spent working full-time as a Guidance Associate before eventually transitioning to her current role as School Counselor Associate at St. Joseph School of Pandacan in Manila.

In the evenings, she pursues her master’s degree, while weekends are dedicated to her clinical internship duties.

And when most people would be resting, she used whatever energy was left to review for the board exam.

“My only time for myself was just to sleep and eat,” she admitted, recalling moments when she felt physically and mentally drained.

But despite the exhaustion, she pressed on because she knew it was all part of something bigger.

Faith, Family, and Purpose as Fuel

“There were nights I’d cry from exhaustion, juggling work, grad school, internship, and review,” she said, “but I prayed and reminded myself of my purpose.”

When she finally saw her name on the list of board passers, she cried tears of joy, immediately hugging her mother and thanking God.

“To aspiring board takers, my message is this: Kaya niyo ‘yan. Your hard work, prayers, and sacrifices will not be wasted.”

Looking ahead, Princes dreams of becoming a licensed psychologist, finishing her master’s degree, and continuing to serve students and communities in need — proving that perseverance and faith can truly change lives.
