MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) has launched a free Special Nursing Review Program (SNRP) for underboard nurses as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s healthcare workforce.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the DOH said participants in the program may also apply as Clinical Care Associates (CCAs) in DOH hospitals. This opportunity allows them to gain work experience and enhance their skills while preparing for the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination (PNLE).
Applications for the program will be accepted until September 5, 2025. Interested applicants are advised to proceed to the nearest DOH hospitals and coordinate with Chief Nurses, or visit the Centers for Health Development (CHDs) and consult with Training Specialists.
The initiative forms part of the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) on the Implementing Guidelines for the Nurse Workforce Complementation and Upskilling Program, signed in July 2023 by DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa and former Commission on Higher Education (CHED) chairperson Prospero De Vera III.
The program aims to address the shortage of nurses in the country by helping underboard nurses become CHED-certified and qualified to work as CCAs while preparing for their licensure examination.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. earlier highlighted the program during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in September 2023, noting that it also gives unregistered nurses the chance to attend tutorials and classes that could improve their chances of passing the board exam.
