The man reportedly fell into a coma during the Frozen Ever After ride around 10 a.m. Friday, according to local media.

His wife noticed his condition while on the ride and immediately sought help from park staff.

Disneyland cast members arranged for first aiders to perform CPR as the boat was preparing to dock.

He was rushed to North Lantau Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:30 a.m.

The South China Morning Post reported that the tourist had a pre-existing medical condition.

Local reports said he had a 10-year history of heart disease and high blood pressure requiring medication and regular check-ups.

A spokesman for Hong Kong Disneyland expressed condolences and pledged assistance to the victim’s family.

The DFA said the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong has contacted the man’s next of kin and is assisting in the repatriation of his remains.

“The (Philippine) Consulate General (in Hong Kong), through its Assistance-to-Nationals Section, confirmed the incident with the Lantau Police headquarters and contacted the next of kin of the deceased to convey our heartfelt condolences and to assist them with the process of repatriating the deceased's remains,” the DFA said in a statement.

Officials emphasized that they continue to coordinate with local authorities while respecting the family’s privacy.

Hong Kong Disneyland said its initial investigation showed the incident was not related to ride safety.

The park has temporarily suspended the Frozen Ever After attraction from August 31 to September 19 for operational adjustments.

The ride, part of the World of Frozen land opened in late 2023, is open to all ages and heights but is not recommended for pregnant women.

Frozen Ever After is described as a slow-moving water ride with small drops and features animatronic characters such as Anna, Elsa, and Olaf.
