President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to deliver his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) at Batasan Pambansa in Quezon City.

Under the Constitution, the Chief Executive is mandated to report the state of the country, unveil the government’s agenda for the coming year, and may also propose to Congress certain legislative measures every fourth Monday of July.

President Marcos describes his SONA as a "performance report for the Filipino people", assuring them that it would be a simple occasion.

“It’s really very simple. It’s just a performance report for Filipinos to see – sa dami ng mga pronouncements, sa dami ng mga salita, kung ito ba ay talagang may kabuluhan o salita lamang,” Marcos said at the sideline of the distribution of government assistance in Pampanga.

Marcos explained that he wants to explain to the Filipino people the significant progress in the Philippines especially on how the international community perceives the country.

“That’s what I want to explain to the people — that we have made significant progress. We can see the difference now not only in terms of how the system works, how the government works,” he said.

SONA 2023 will be available through special coverage and livestream video on state-run PTV, Presidential Communications Facebook page and Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM) Facebook page and YouTube channel.

House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said RTVM will be directing BBM's second SONA contrary to earlier report that last year's director Paul Soriano will return for directorial duty.
