He said, "When I decided to go into Aviation (a completely different world from Medicine), my wife supported me kahit pa alam namin na malaking gastusin ang haharapin namin."

The couple knew that if Doc Erwin wanted to achieve his dream of becoming a pilot, they would have to struggle paying for it on their own. They both agreed they wouldn't seek help from their parents.

Fortunately, things went well and Doc Erwin was able to finish his Flying Training for 3.5 years.

"Natagalan ng konti dahil installment din sa pagbabayad ng tuition sa Flying School. Iginapang lang talaga namin," he shared.

To increase his chances of being hired by airline companies, Doc Erwin wanted to take the Airbus 320 training course.

"Kaya lang, tumataginting na 33K US Dollars ang katapat and wala na kaming extra money to spend," he said.

Doc Erwin was surprised when his wife agreed to sell their newly owned property just so he could continue his plans.

He shared, "My wife, without forcing her, agreed to sell our newly owned townhouse that time to raise enough money for my training. Half of the money sa akin for the Airbus training, and the other half for the small business she manages."

The rest they say is history. Doc Erwin was able to get a new job as a pilot at the age of 39, thanks to his wife's patience and support.

"Everytime we talk about our journey as husband and wife, how we managed to overcome obstacles especially the finances, we can't help but to feel very grateful to our family and friends, most to our God Almighty! God provides and we are continuously experiencing it!!! We are blessed, no doubt," he said.

In this season of love, Doc Erwin praised Meriam as his "wind beneath my wings." "To my wife who is the wind beneath my wings, I love you. I thank God for you. Kaya naman ang pera mo, pera mo. Ang pera ko, pera mo rin," he said in jest.
