MANILA, Philippines – A doctor shared from her experience how COVID-19 vaccines work regardless of brand.
To encourage the public to get the COVID-19 jab, Dr. Anne Gabriel-Chan shared photos of chest X-rays of her COVID-19 patients. She compared the results of patients who were vaccinated with different COVID-19 brands and the unvaccinated patient.
According to the medical doctor, out of the four patients she had, three of those only had mild to asymptomatic cases because they were fully vaccinated with different vaccine brands. She shared that the unvaccinated suffered pneumonia, experienced difficulty in breathing and had to be admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Dr. Gabriel-Chan said this is proof that vaccines work in preventing severe COVID-19 infections, regardless of its brand.
She wrote, "As we start to see a rise of COVID-19 cases again, I want to share some of our patients who were admitted just today. These are real patients and I speak from clinical experience."
"4 patients were admitted due to COVID 19. 3 were mild to almost asymptomatic and 1 was gasping for air and was immediately admitted to ICU. Reminding everyone that 3 patients who were mild to asymptomatic were:
1. FULLY VACCINATED(completed 2 doses and AT LEAST 2 weeks from the 2nd dose)
2. Had different vaccine platforms and brands."
Dr. Gabriel-Chan reminded the public to get the vaccine that is available and trust that it will give the right protection. She clarified that while vaccinated individuals can still get COVID-19, they are protected against the risk of acquiring severe infections and hospitalizations.
She also clarified that there is no superior brand and that the public should stop debating whether China-made vaccines work. Dr. Gabriel-Chan said that there might be a possibility that a surge could happen with the Delta variant already in the country, it is best to be protected.
