After winning his battle with cancer, De Jesus dedicated his life to pursue his dream and become a doctor. As a cancer patient, he knew the important role that doctors have in their patients’ lives. He was certainly grateful for the doctors who helped him survive and battle the deadly disease.

First, he completed his nursing degree in 2015. It is already a great profession in the field of medicine, but De Jesus wanted to do more. So, with his cancer in remission, he decided to proceed to medicine and become a doctor.

“It's a lifelong dream. After I passed the nursing licensure exam last 2005, I wanted to pursue medicine,” the new doctor recalled.

Because his parents could not afford to send him to med school, De Jesus worked harder to support himself. Yet he did not mind the extra effort because he knew that he will not only be fulfilling his dreams but will also be instrumental in helping heal a lot of people like him in the future.
