MANILA, Philippines – The March and September 2020 Physician Licensure Examination (PLE) or Physician board exam results, including the official list of passers, topnotchers (top 10), top performing schools and performance of schools are released online on Thursday, October 1 or in eight (8) working days after the exam.

UPDATE: 800 out of 1,424 (56.18%) passed the exams. The results of examination with respect to fourteen (14) examinees were withheld pending completion of the remaining subjects in the Physician Licensure Examination, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced.

The PRC conducted the first part of the Physician board exam on March 8 and 9, 2020 in NCR, Baguio, Cebu and Zamboanga. But due to COVID-19 pandemic and the declaration of state of public health emergency throughout the country on March 11, the second part of the PLE was postponed.

As the country's battle against COVID-19 continues, PRC recognized the urgent need for physicians during these times of crisis. In coordination with the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), it was agreed to push through the second part of medical board exam on September 20-21.

Recent PLE was conducted in NCR, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga cities relative to the intention of examinees to get their exam on their sites [regional] for health and safety purposes.

PHYSICIAN BOARD EXAM RESULTS

REGISTRATION AND OATHTAKING

Starting November 5, 2020, registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be done on-line. Please go to www.prc.gov.ph and follow instructions for initial registration.

Those who will register are required to bring the following:
  • downloaded duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal
  • notice of admission (for identification only)
  • 2 pieces passport sized pictures (colored with white background and complete name tag)
  • 2 sets of documentary stamps
  • 1 piece short brown envelope

Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

Due to pandemic, oathtaking ceremony of the new successful examinees will be done virtual or online. The online oathtaking application system (e-oath) can be accessed at Licensure Examination and Registration Information System (LERIS).

VERIFICATION OF RATINGS

Physician board exam's verification of ratings (passers, non-passers and removal) can be done online.

Visit PRC's "Verification of Rating" service and enter the required information to verify your identity. Note that this will be available in few working days after the release of results.

COVERAGE OF EXAMINATION

The PLE or medicine board exam covered the following subjects:

March 8: biochemistry, anatomy and histology, microbiology and parasitology

March 9: hysiology, legal medicine, ethics and medical jurisprudence and pathology

September 20: pharmacology and therapeutics surgery and opthalmology, otolaryngology and rhinology and medicine

September 21: obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and nutrition and preventive medicine and public health

RELEASE OF RESULTS

According to PRC Resolution No. 1210, PLE board exam results will be released after 3-4 working days. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, a delay on checking test papers is also expected. There's no information yet whether the PRC Board of Medicine already finished checking the sheets for the first part of the exams.

NOTE: Results may be released ahead of the target or on later date without prior notice.

PREVIOUS EXAMS

In the March 2019 PLE, PRC announced results after three (3) working days. A total of 1,209 out of 1,579 (76.57%) successfully hurdled the exams. Jan Bendric Co Borbe from University of Santo Tomas and Clinton Rosita Rabadon from West Visayas State University - La Paz topped the board with identical grade of 89.83%.

In the March 2018 exams, results were also released online after 3 working days. PRC named 1,067 out of 1,601 (66.60%) who passed the Physician board exam. Jerald Lalaguna Pelayo of University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center aced the board with 99.17%.

In the March 2017 PLE, results were also out online in 3 working days. A total of 813 out of 1,317 (61.70%) examinees successfully passed the test. Karl Emmanuel Cueva Mercader of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta - Las Pinas led the passers with 88.58%.
