MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte will reveal the new community quarantine classifications on or before Monday, June 29, Malacañang announced on Friday.

Duterte to reveal new quarantine classifications on or before June 29

The current lockdown measures extending the general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila and placing Cebu City under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) will expire on June 30.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases will inform the local government units on the proposed quarantine measures so they can review and make an appeal if they wish to before the announcement of the president.

“There is already a recommendation but this is subject to review by the President. Anyway, the President will announce on or before the 29th, I believe,” Roque said.

“Nagkaroon po siyempre ng rekomendasyon kung ano ang magiging applicable quarantine restrictions sa iba’t ibang mga lugar sa Pilipinas, pero ito po ay pinagbibigay alam muna sa mga LGUs para kung gusto po nila mag-apela,” Roque added.

Once all the quaratine recommendations have been finalized, IATF will present the list to Duterte for his approval.

Roque also warned the public not to believe on circulating messages on new classifications and just wait for the President’s announcement.

“Dahil yung mga fake news na kumalat noong dalawang linggong nakalipas, maling-mali po at iba’t iba sa desisyon ng ating Presidente,” he said.

IATF earlier said that no areas in the country will transition to new normal in the coming days to curb the spread of COVID-19.

As of Friday, the Philippines has recorded 34,073 COVID-19 cases nationwide, with 1,224 deaths and 9,182 recoveries.
