Marcelito Pomoy is 3rd runner-up in 'America's Got Talent: The Champions'

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino singer Marcelito Pomoy was named third runner-up in the well renowned US talent competition "America's Got Talent: The Champions" on Tuesday (Manila time).

“He just wanted to say thank you. Thank you so much to everybody. This is a big opportunity for him. Thank you so much,” Pomoy’s wife said after the announcement.

In the grand finals performance night last week, Pomoy sang Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson's "Beauty and the Beast." The Pinoy pride wowed everyone with his stellar performance, sweeping the audience off the seats with the emotional duet.


All judges except Simon Cowell gushed over the performance, lauding his choice of songs. Cowell explained Pomoy should have picked 'something less predictable'. Dance crew V. Unbeatable was hailed the winner of the season, which brings together past contestants and winners of the international Got Talent franchises.



Meanwhile, Sandou Trio Russian Bar was named fourth runner-up, while Tyler Butler-Figueroa and Duo Transcend placed second and first runners-up, respectively.

Pomoy, who won the Philippine franchise of Got Talent in 2011, also appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2018.
