The multiple-choice promotional examinations include general information, police administration and operations, and police customs and tradition/values and ethical standards,” Casurao added.

It is open exclusively to all qualified uniformed members of the PNP who meet the minimim qualification standards for examination in terms of rank and eligibility.

Those who passed the promotional exam shall be conferred eligibilities appropriate for promotion to the ranks corresponding to the examination's Eligibility Rank Coverage (ERC).

RENAMING OF PNP PROMOTIONAL EXAM TITLES

Due to the modification of the PNP rank classification under Republic Act No. 11200, the current promotional examination titles are no longer appropriate with the present rank classification, hence, it has to be renamed.

RA 11200 entitled “An Act Providing for the Rank Classification in the Philippine National Police, amending for the purpose Section 28 of Republic Act No. 6975, as amended, otherwise known as the "Department of the Interior and Local Government Act of 1990" was signed into law by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on February 8, 2019 and implemented by the PNP on March 25, 2019.

Said law modifies the rank classification in the PNP and standardizes how police officers are addressed.

NOTE: Police Officer 2nd Class examination for Police Lieutenant and Police Captain is previously called "Police Inspector Examination for Inspector and Senior Inspector".

    PREVIOUS EXAMINATION

In the April 2019 NAPOLCOM exams, results were released online in two (2) months after the tests. A total of 5,481 out of 13,447 (40.76%) passed the promotional exam categories, in which 347 passed the Police Inspector exams.

Results of the October 2018 NAPOLCOM exams were out online in less than three (3) months. A total of 4,410 or 34.99% passed the PNP Promotional Examinations. 312 hurdled the Inspector exams.

In the April 2018 exams, results were also announced online in less than three (3) months. A total of 5,680 out of 14,329 (39.64%) passed promotional exams. Out of the 1,243 who took the Inspector Exam, 266 (21.40%) passed.

The low passing rate may be attributed to the Commission’s continuous upgrading of standards on its police examinations in line with its sustained effort to professionalize the PNP by ensuring that only the most qualified PNP personnel are promoted in the police service.

    AVAILABILITY OF RESULTS

The list of successful examinees will be posted at the 7th Floor, NAPOLCOM Central Office located at the DILG-NAPOLCOM Center, NAPOLCOM Bldg., EDSA Corner Quezon Avenue, West Triangle, Quezon City and in all 17 NAPOLCOM Regional Offices, and can be viewed at the NAPOLCOM website at www.napolcom.gov.ph.
