Drake agrees to sing at someone’s wedding for 1 million IG likes

It is no secret that hiring a celebrity to a private function often involves a lot of money; the more popular and well-known a celebrity is, the higher the talent fee you are expected to pay. And while there are some who would ‘gate crash’ a party just for fun (and that’s for free!), no one will surely agree to perform at some function without any kind of pay.

But four-time Grammy Award winner reportedly agreed to perform at someone’s wedding for the low, low price of just 1 million likes and 100,000 follows on Instagram! Can you believe that?

It’s totally unheard of for a popular artist to perform in exchange for social media likes; after all, they are so popular that they no longer need the additional social media exposure! But the screenshot shared by new Instagram user @drake_wedding seems legit.

The fan sent a DM to the artist, telling him about the upcoming wedding and asking how many likes or shared it would take for him to perform at their Big Day.

“Hey Drake! My Fiancé and I are getting married on September 22 and she is your biggest fan and I wanted to surprise her,” the still unnamed fan wrote. “How many likes or follows for you to perform a couple songs at our wedding? It would mean the world [to] us.”

Quite surprisingly, though, Drake replied to the DM. Not only did he congratulate the fan, the seemed to have agreed on performing at the wedding if the fan could come up with 1 million likes and 100,000 follows! Wow.

Drake even wished him good luck.

So, the fan quickly made a new IG account and shared the DMs – and fans loved it! In fact, Drake fans loved it so much that the post had gotten over 1 million likes in just a few days.

In as little as 6 days after it was posted, the IG post received nearly 1.3 million likes while the @drake_wedding account now has over 251k followers even though it only had that single post.

While many are skeptical that this was even true, a lot are also hopeful that Drake was actually the one behind the DMs and that he would keep his word! Let’s all wait and see as the wedding date on September 22 draws near…

UPDATE:

As many fans have already deduced, the viral story about Drake agreeing to a wedding gig for just 1 million likes turned out to be fake. It was made by a 16-year-old from San Antonio who wanted to build an Instagram page with a huge following so he could sell it to buy a car.

Drake identified the 16-year-old user as a certain Jacob Hawk who messaged him after the post went viral. Hawk apologized to Drake and offered him the account. While Drake didn’t respond to the guy, he posted the DMs on his account to put a stop to the speculations.
