LOOK: Courageous Caitie’s baby sister arrives on Valentine’s Day

MANILA, Philippines - Barely a year after the Lucas family tragically lost Caitlin Soleil “Courageous Caitie” from a rare form of leukemia, the family welcomed a new addition to their family.

Courageous Caitie’s baby sister arrives on Valentine’s Day

On Tuesday, February 14, Jayjay and Feliz Lucas welcomed their newborn daughter Tabitha Calea “Xinyi” D. Lucas at exactly 11:25am, the same time they lost Caitie on March 31, 2016. Jayjay announced the arrival of their daughter through social media.

According to Jayjay, their daughter’s names combined meant “grace in joyous harmony.”

Apparently, Xinyi’s arrival came as a surprise since Feliz was expected to give birth on March 5, the same day Caitie was diagnosed with juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML). In fact, the family had not yet prepared anything for the little girl’s arrival.

“No clothes, nothing prepared, no bath and no camera, LOL," Feliz quipped. "But I thanked God for this as well. We can prepare so much but God reminded me to let go and surrender that indeed in all things He is sovereign and good,” Feliz said.

While in the recovering room, as I embrace this new miracle as she breastfeeds, I whispered a prayer of blessing for her, for me and for my family. That this baby is her own person. We have always discussed that we want to address each child as if they are an only child. No middle, no bunso and no eldest. Distinct and separate from her sister. Uniquely her. To empower their strengths and live a life of responsibility and love as an individual. As her own person. I thanked God for my weaknesses. How I'm so scared with this chapter of our lives. It will keep me grounded that I cannot do it myself but I need to depend on Him and God's word. it's funny how we were all sooo unprepared with today. Totally unexpected. No name, no clothes, nothing prepared, no bath and no camera LOL! But I thanked God for this as well. We can prepare so much but God reminded me to let go and surrender that indeed in all things He is sovereign and good. I tried my best to not be in St Lukes bec of all the bad memories but even with this, God wants to humble me. To forgive, to let go of bitterness and that restoration means to replace such anger with gratitude. This pregnancy had a lot of complications; kidney stones, cervix shortening, bleeding, wheel chair rides and so much more!!! Grace indeed that the baby is well and healthy! Giving birth is such a humbling humbling experience! #todaywiththelucas2017 #tabithacaleaxinyi0m #newborn #motherandchild #love

Netizens can’t help but point out Xinyi’s striking resemblance to her sister. Despite this, the Lucas family believes that their latest bundle of joy is her own person.

After three months of battling cancer, Caitie succumbed to her disease on March 31, 2016 at a reputable hospital in Singapore. Caitie’s positive disposition and incredible display of courage despite her painful ordeal has earned her thousands of followers and donors on her Facebook page. Her short but well-lived life has inspired thousands of netizens that her life story was even featured in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya.
