This mobile app, launched in August last year, brings the promise of smooth face to face connection with the persons you care about. Here's the lowdown of the exciting features of the Google Duo.

1. A video calling app for everyone: Duo is a mobile-only app available for Android and iOS devices. Tested to perform on cross-platforms iOS to Android, and vice versa.

2. Phone-number based: So you can reach everyone in your phonebook without creating an account.

3. Knock Knock feature: You can see a live video preview of the person calling you, and why they're calling, before you even pick up. It only works with people in your contact list and can be turned off.

4. Wi-Fi and cellular calling: Duo seamlessly transitions between WiFi and cellular networks, so you can start a call on one network, and switch to another without dropping your call.

5. 1:1 video calling: It is focused on 1:1 video calling, rather than group calling.

6. Lightning fast video: Google Duo boasts this optimized feature, so that calls connect faster than most other video calling apps and audio and video stays in sync, even on slower networks.

7. Handles slower networks: Works well on slower networks, such as those in emerging markets, and can degrade to available lower voice technology as 2G.

8. Secure: All calls are end-to-end encrypted.

9. Additional feature to block numbers or unregister phone number: Whether you like not to receive call from specific person for whatever reason or privacy, you can do this via settings. If it happens that you changed you mobile number, registering new contact will be easy.
