MANILA, Philippines — (Updated April 30) The University of the Philippines - College Admission Test (UPCAT) results for Academic Year AY 2018-2019 are officially released online on Monday, April 30, 2018 or six (6) months after the exams.

"Check the UP website for announcements and posting of UPCAT results between March and April 2018," UP posted on their official page for UPCAT 2018.

"More than 103,000 applied to take the exams last October, out of whom more than 80,000 actually took the exams. Of these takers, some 14,000 will be accepted into one of UP’s eight constituent universities, for a passing rate of about 17 percent," UP advised on April 11.

UPCAT was administered on October 21-22, 2017 in at least 76 test centers nationwide including UPEPP (Clarkfield, Pampanga), UP Visayas (Iloilo City), UP Los Baños (Laguna), UP Cebu (Cebu City), UP Tacloban College (Tacloban City), Cagayan de Oro City, UP Mindanao (Davao City), UP Baguio (Baguio City) and UP Diliman (Quezon City).

April 6, 2018 Update: During the 1,334th Board of Regents (BOR) meeting earlier, Office of Admissions' Dir. Mendoza said that the results will be released anytime this April. (April 30 the latest). No definite date was mentioned.

April 5, 2018 Update: "Having a range of dates for release of results is the usual practice of schools like UP that have a very large number of applicants, and require strict validation of results with a different test every year," UP Office of Admissions said.

April 4, 2018 Update: "The UPCAT 2018 results link will be released soon," UP stated as welcome remark in its official website.

March 31, 2018 2nd Update: "Update from VP for Acad Affairs Cynthia Bautista: According to Dir. Mendoza, results are expected to be released on Mar 31 or 1st week of April due to the Lenten break and the new civil service rule on overtime that affected the work of those who are in the Office of Admissions," UP Student Regent Shari Nina Oliquino tweeted.

March 31, 2018 1st Update: UP is targeting release of UPCAT results before the end of the month, the university committee on student affairs said in a meeting. That means, the results could be up online tonight or before midnight.

March 1, 2018 Update: UP confirmed that UPCAT 2018 results will be released between March and April 2018. "A list of passers will be sent to your school principal. Individual notices will also be sent to all examinees."

For SY 2018-2019, UP welcomes the first batch of freshmen who will continue to university after the full implementation of Senior High School (SHS) as part of the K to 12 program.

Aside from the online availability of results, UP said a list of qualifiers will be sent to the principal of respective schools. Individual notices will also be sent to all examinees.

"If you qualify for admission to UP, register according to the instructions provided by the college or unit to which you have been accepted," UP added.

UPCAT COVERAGE

The UPCAT is consists of 4 subtests: Language Proficiency (English and Filipino), Science, Math and Reading Comprehension (English and Filipino). Standardized UPCAT scores are combined with the weighted average of 3 years of high school final grades to determine the UP admission grade.

Passers of UPCAT are screened for acceptance into one of the degree programs they chose. Different grade predictors are used for different programs. Campus qualifiers are ranked according to the degree program predictor. Top-ranking qualifiers are accepted according to the number of slots available for that program.

ADMISSION IN UP

UP is highly committed to admitting the best students and providing increased access to quality higher education. All UP students are provided partial tuition subsidies by government appropriations, but additionally the University also has a Socialized Tuition System (STS) which provides possible tuition discounts and/or additional financial assistance for qualified students in the form of monthly subsidies for living and travel expenses and a semestral book allowance. Students may also avail of tuition loans and short-term loans from the Student Loan Board.

UP Oblation Scholarship is given to the top fifty UPCAT qualifiers. The benefits include free tuition, miscellaneous and laboratory fees, a semestral book subsidy and a monthly incentive and transportation allowance. Recipients may enjoy the UP Oblation Scholarship throughout the normal length of time required to finish their chosen degree program, provided they maintain the required grade point average. For those in the accelerated medical program (INTARMED), however, only the first four years are covered by this grant.

Filipino graduates from the Top 10 of the graduating classes of public high schools may apply for freshman automatic admission (i.e. without having to take the UPCAT) for SY 2018-2019, provided they meet other UP admission requirements, as provided by a transitory provision of the Iskolar ng Bayan Law of 2014.
