MANILA, Philippines - SM mall operations SVP Steven Tan has released statement on Monday regarding the alleged suicide incident happened at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City on Valentine's Day.

Tan said that the woman identified as Madonna Guanzon,48, fell at Building B in SM Megamall was rushed to the hospital by the mall personnel.

It is not yet confirmed whether it was an accident or suicide but he added that local authorities are currently investigating the matter.

"A woman fell at Building B in SM Megamall. She was immediately rushed to the hospital by the mall personnel. The mall security and the local authorities are currently investigating the matter. We will cooperate for further inquiry,” Tan said in a statement.

On Sunday, netizens were shocked as photos of the incident went viral online. Mallgoers who witnessed the tragedy also expressed their sympathy on social media.

"Megamall" has been a trending topic on Valentine's Day immediately after the incident.
