Fresh from a thrilling rubber match against the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs, the Taft-based net setters will be playing their archrivals minus their leading scorer Ara Galang after crashing hard to the floor late in the fourth set during their do-or-die game.

Galang was seriously in pain and was holding tight on her left knee after making her 25th point of the game last Saturday. She was attended by the Team Medics and was brought out of court on a stretcher. The fallen archer was then rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed with torn ACL and MCL plus bruised bones. She thanked her fans for the support and prayers and announced that she will not be able to play in the finals.

The Katipunan-based volleybelles led by 2-time UAAP MVP and 3-time Best Scorer Alyssa Valdez, on the other hand, will carry the confidence and momentum to finals by sweeping the Season with 14 wins and subduing the ladies in green twice in the elimination round.

With Ara Galang officialy out for the season, Head Coach Ramil De Jesus assures the DLSU Community and volleyball fans that her girls will fight until the end and beating the defending champions in the finals is still probable. The soft-spoken mentor will now rely heavily on veteran hitters Mika Reyes, Cyd Demecillo and rookie Christine Soyud.

ADMU Head Coach Anusorn “Tai” Bundit with the battle cry of “Heart Strong”, steered the Lady Blue Spikers to snatch the title from the former 3-peat champions DLSU Lady Spikers, by beating the latter twice during their Season 76 face-off finale will once again try to replicate his team’s outstanding accomplishment with his solid and intact roster spearheaded by Team Captain Alyssa Valdez, Hitter Amy Ahomiro and Setter Julia Morado.

Lady Blue Spikers Manager Tony Liao ordered his team not to talk about Ara Galang’s absence at all times to prevent complacency and over-confidence that might hinder his team’s bid for back-to-back championships. He said that his wards will stay focus and will play their usual intensity with or without Galang. - D'Waterboy, TheSummitExpress
