The October 2012 Philippine Bar Exam results officially released after the special en banc session on March 20,2013. Out of 5,686 qualified examinees, 949 new lawyers who got a minimum of 75% average in all bar subjects (passers and topnotchers) already announced.

Oathtaking and Clearance
The oath-taking of the successful Bar candidates will be on April 24, 2013 at 2 pm at the Philippine International Convention Center.
The Bar passers may secure their clearances from the Office of the Bar Confidant during office hours, Monday to Friday, beginning April 1, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On a text message to press, February 19, 2013, much-awaited result is for release before Holy Week. Holy Week in Philippines will fall on Sunday, 24 March 2013 to Sunday, 31 March 2013.
"As per Justice Martin Villarama, chair of the 2012 Bar exams, barring unforseen circumstances, results will be out before Holy Week," said the SC PIO.
The Court resolved to HOLD a SPECIAL SESSION on March 20, 2013, Wednesday, at 10 a.m. relative to the 2012 Bar examinations,” the SC said on Tuesday, March 12.
The examinations conducted by Bar Exam Committee was a month earlier than traditional date. The High Court administered exams at the University of Santo Tomas on the four Sundays of October 2012 ( (October 7, 14, 21 & 28).
2012 bar exams is composed of traditional multiple choice type of exams with added essay type. 7 of the 8 subjects have 60 percent multiple choice questions and 40 percent essay type of problem.
The Philippine Bar Examination is the professional licensure examination for lawyers in the Philippines. It is the only professional exam not handled by PRC and exclusively supervised by Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court conducts the Bar examinations pursuant to Article VIII, Section 5 of the Constitution which provides that it shall have the power to promulgate rules governing the admission to the practice of law.
The Office of the Bar Confidant of the Philippine Supreme Court releases the Official List of Successful Bar Examinees, usually during the last week of March or the first week of April of every year. But in the case of 2012 bar, release of results is earlier.
Prior to the release of results, special en banc session for the 'decoding of bar exam results' is being done. Decoding is the process where the SC orders the Office of the Bar Confidant to open the sealed envelopes with the names of the candidates who passed the exams.
Last year bar exam which has 31.95% ( 1,913 out of 5,987) passing percentage is second on the history of highest passing rate since 2001. 2001 has 32.89% (1,266 out of 3,849) successful examinees.
