Magnaye shared a screenshot of her conversation with her mother, who told her, “I just lost a voice over job to AI,” prompting her to speak out about the growing use of AI in the creative industry.
“My heart breaks for all the artists and creatives,” Magnaye said in a Facebook post.
She revealed that the client was a major brand but chose not to identify the company, saying she understood that business decisions are made in the interest of the company.
Still, Magnaye urged major brands to consider the broader impact of replacing human talent with AI, particularly on artists who depend on creative work for their livelihood.
“Where you spend your money is a vote you cast toward the future you want,” she recalled, saying companies’ spending decisions help shape the kind of future society will have.

Magnaye questioned whether big brands want a future where AI-generated content increasingly takes opportunities away from human beings.
While acknowledging that AI can be a useful tool, she argued that it should not ethically be used to replace human talent.
“AI is a tool, but ethically should never be used to replace human talent,” Magnaye said.
She also criticized AI-generated voice-overs, artwork and music, saying they can lack the emotion and qualities associated with human creativity.
Magnaye ended her post by inviting brands looking for voice-over talent to consider her mother, whose schedule had become available after losing the project.
Her remarks come amid continuing discussions about the role of AI in creative industries and its potential impact on employment opportunities for artists.
