MANILA, Philippines — A 24-year-old law student and competitive golfer died after reportedly falling from the fourth floor of a building in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig, on Friday morning, September 18.

Police identified the victim as Nath Alcantara, a law student at the Ateneo Law School and a graduate of De La Salle University–Manila who was reportedly residing on the 16th floor of Fort Victoria in Barangay Fort Bonifacio.
Alcantara was known in Philippine golf circles and had represented clubs and teams including Mount Malarayat, Summit Point, Camp John Hay and Pugo Adventure.
His most recent recorded Federation League appearance was on June 14, when Mount Malarayat faced Valley.
Alcantara was the son of Noli Alcantara, district engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd District Engineering Office in Negros Oriental.
The incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. and was reported to police at approximately 9:10 a.m., according to the initial police report.
Security personnel had completed their roll call shortly after 7 a.m. before proceeding to their assigned areas within the building.
A security officer later reportedly heard a loud thudding sound after opening the door of the security barracks, prompting maintenance workers and other personnel to check the area.
They found a man who had sustained fatal injuries, with police later identifying him as Alcantara.
Investigators from the Taguig City Police Station’s Investigation and Detective Management Section and the Southern Police District Forensic Unit were dispatched to process the scene.
Investigators are also looking into the possibility of suicide, although authorities stressed that no conclusion has been reached as the case remains under investigation, with an autopsy scheduled to determine the exact cause of Alcantara’s death.
Following his death, the De La Salle University Golf Team expressed its condolences to Alcantara’s family and remembered him as more than a teammate, describing him as family whose dedication and love helped shape the team.
“His impact, the memories we shared, and the part he played in our journey will always remain with us,” the team said.
“Thank you for everything you gave to the team, Nath; you will always be one of us,” it added.
