MANILA, Philippines – Alas Pilipinas Women made history on Sunday by capturing their first-ever silver medal in SEA V Cup history after defeating Indonesia, 25-13, 23-25, 25-19, 33-31, in Leg 2 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The historic victory gave the Philippines its highest finish in SEA V Cup history, capping a memorable campaign for the national women’s volleyball team.
Alyssa Solomon led Alas with 19 points, all from attacks, while Eya Laure and Bella Belen added 17 points each.
Dell Palomata contributed nine points, including six blocks, while Jia De Guzman had four points.
Thea Gagate and Fifi Sharma scored three points apiece, while Niña Ytang added one.
Alas came out firing in the opening set, racing to a 25-13 victory to immediately put Indonesia under pressure.
Indonesia responded in the second set, holding off the Filipinas, 25-23, to level the match and intensify the battle for the silver medal.
The Philippines regained control in the third set, securing a 25-19 victory to move within one set of the historic podium finish.
The fourth set turned into a thrilling marathon as both teams traded crucial points, with neither side willing to surrender the match.
Alas eventually broke through at 33-31, sealing the four-set victory and sending the Filipinas into celebration.
The win capped a strong second-leg campaign for Alas Pilipinas, which had earlier stunned powerhouse Vietnam for its first victory over the Vietnamese since 2019.
The victory over Vietnam had kept the Philippines in contention for a podium finish before the Filipinas delivered once more against Indonesia.
The silver medal also gives Alas Pilipinas a major boost heading into its 2026 Asian Games campaign in September.
With the historic finish, the Filipinas return to the SEA V.Cup podium and continue to build momentum on the international stage.
