MANILA, Philippines – After years of juggling her career, motherhood, and studies, actress Cai Cortez has finally reached a milestone she had long been waiting for: earning her college diploma!

Cortez recently took to Instagram to celebrate her graduation, sharing an emotional message dedicated to her parents and the people who supported her throughout her journey.
“Mom and Dad, sana proud kayo kahit it took this long to give you a diploma,” she wrote, expressing hope that her late achievement would still make her parents proud.
The actress revealed that her journey toward completing her degree was far from easy. As a working professional and a solo mother of two, pursuing higher education required her to balance her responsibilities as a parent and her career while making time for her studies.
Despite the challenges, Cortez found an opportunity to continue her education through the University of Makati (UMak), which she credited for providing opportunities to people like her who want to finish their studies while working.
She also expressed gratitude to Sir Thad and her best friend, co-actress Tart Carlos, whom she credited for signing her up for the program.
Cortez proudly announced that she is now officially a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Political Science, major in Local Government Administration.
“20 years in the making,” she said.
“Officially a Bachelor of Science Political Science Major in Local Government Administration graduate,” she added.
The actress also thanked her “Team Cai” for accompanying her during the milestone celebration, as well as Kim Cruz and Navi for helping her prepare for the special occasion.
Cai recalls her marriage struggles and credits her parents for supporting her as a solo mother during an interview with Fast Talk with Boy Abunda last July 2026.
Cai’s former husband is Wissem Rkhami, a Tunisian national whom she married in a civil ceremony in July 2016.
She has long been a character actress in various films and television series, where she often plays the protagonist’s best friend.
