MANILA, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has extended the acceptance of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Undertaking for the renewal of Professional Identification Cards (PIC) or PRC licenses until December 31, 2026.
The extension was approved through PRC Resolution No. 2200 (s. 2026), giving registered professionals another months to renew their licenses even without completing the required CPD credit units.
Under the resolution, professionals with incomplete or no CPD units may continue renewing their PRC licenses by executing a CPD Undertaking, without paying additional fees.
According to the PRC, the extension recognizes the challenges many professionals continue to face in earning CPD credit units, including the cost of accredited training programs, limited access to seminars and workshops in remote areas, and restrictive work schedules.
The Commission also cited the issuance of PRC Resolution No. 2165 (s. 2026), which expands the recognized sources of CPD credits to include Self-directed Learning (SDL), Professional Work Experience (PWE), and Informal Learning (IL), in addition to formal and non-formal learning.
PRC said the extension will provide sufficient time to conduct orientations and capacity-building activities for stakeholders and allow professionals to adjust before the full implementation of the revised CPD Program beginning January 2027.
How to Renew Your PRC License Using a CPD Undertaking
- Log in to the PRC LERIS account and select Renewal.
- Choose your profession and enter your PRC License Number.
- Select Renewal with Undertaking.
- Pay the renewal fee through PRC-accredited payment channels.
- Choose either a PRC branch appointment or PRC ID delivery.
- Attend your appointment or wait for the delivery of your renewed PRC ID.
By signing the CPD Undertaking, professionals commit to completing the required CPD credit units during their next renewal cycle. The PRC clarified that executing a CPD Undertaking does not waive CPD compliance, as any deficiency will be carried over to the succeeding renewal period.
About Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is mandated under Republic Act No. 10912, or the Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016, to ensure that registered professionals continuously enhance their knowledge, skills, and competencies.
Professionals may earn CPD credit units through:
- Formal Learning – Master's or doctoral degree programs.
- Non-Formal Learning – Conferences, seminars, workshops, training programs, publications, and consultancy work.
- Volunteer Engagements – Community service, medical missions, environmental projects, and disaster response.
- Other Recognized Learning Activities – Self-directed Learning (SDL), Professional Work Experience (PWE), and Informal Learning (IL) under the revised CPD guidelines.
The PRC said the extension is intended to facilitate the transition to the revised CPD framework while ensuring that professionals continue to have access to license renewal services until the full implementation of the updated CPD Program in 2027.
