MANILA, Philippines – Filipino nurses have long earned global respect for their compassion, leadership, and dedication to service, and Job Marconi Mascardo is adding to that legacy after earning a nomination among nursing's most impactful men.

Filipino nurse leader Job Marconi Mascardo earns global recognition after a nomination among nursing's most impactful men for his healthcare leadership.

Mascardo, 36, a Filipino nurse leader from Dipolog City, has been nominated for The Nurses Magazine's Men of Honor – Most Impactful Men in Nursing Award.

Published by the Florida-based The Nurses Magazine, the recognition celebrates male nurses whose leadership, service, and lasting impact continue to inspire the global nursing profession.

Unlike many honors that recognize bedside care, Mascardo's nomination highlights years of improving the systems behind patient care—work that often goes unnoticed but has the power to save countless lives.

Now based in Guam, USA, he serves as a Hospital Nurse Quality Improvement Specialist at Guam Memorial Hospital Authority, leading initiatives that strengthen patient safety and healthcare quality.

"It is a humbling recognition," Mascardo told The Summit Express. "Awards are encouraging, but they are never the goal. They remind me to continue serving with excellence, integrity, and compassion."

He also dedicated the recognition to Filipino nurses around the world whose compassion, resilience, and professionalism continue to elevate the profession.

Beyond the hospital, Mascardo founded BEST Healthcare Rankings, an independent platform that recognizes outstanding Filipino nurses, nursing allies, and future healthcare professionals, believing that "recognition inspires excellence, and excellence inspires others."

His passion for service also extends to his doctoral research on the remittance burden experienced by Filipinos in the United States, with the goal of helping better understand the financial and psychological challenges faced by Overseas Filipinos supporting loved ones back home.

That same commitment is rooted in his faith, with Proverbs 1:7 serving as his guiding verse: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." Mascardo said the passage reminds him that while degrees and credentials are valuable, wisdom comes from lifelong learning and using knowledge to serve others.

For Mascardo, learning did not end after passing the December 2010 Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE). After earning his nursing degree at Silliman University, he completed master's degrees in business administration and nursing and is now pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Development Administration.

The latest recognition builds on the inspiring journey he previously shared with The Summit Express—from overcoming limited opportunities in the Philippines to becoming a healthcare leader committed to improving patient safety while championing Filipino nurses on the global stage.

"I hope people remember that meaningful leadership is not measured by awards but by the positive difference we make each day," Mascardo said.

For Mascardo, the nomination is more than international recognition—it reflects a career built on quiet service, lifelong learning, and lifting others. His journey reminds Filipino nurses everywhere that the greatest legacy is not found in awards, but in the lives they improve and the people they inspire.
