In an exclusive interview with The Summit Express, Manuel shared the struggles, sacrifices, and mindset that helped him achieve what many consider an extraordinary milestone.
Despite his success today, Manuel revealed that nursing and real estate were never part of his original plan because he once dreamed of taking up Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Life, however, led him toward different opportunities, and instead of resisting change, he chose to grow wherever he was planted.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Northern Philippines and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Management from Systems Plus College Foundation to support his expanding real estate business.
Beyond academics and business, Manuel described himself as a dreamer who hopes to become a motivational speaker someday and inspire people through his experiences.
During the interview, Manuel admitted that one of the biggest challenges he faced throughout college and board exam preparations was time management.
To overcome the pressure, he focused on discipline, consistency, and maintaining the right mindset during difficult moments.
“Read and read and read,” Manuel said when asked about his advice for aspiring board passers.
He also encouraged future professionals to practice more and never fear failure because setbacks are part of success.
“Trying and failing is a part of success,” he shared.
Financial struggles also became one of the reasons that pushed him to work harder and chase bigger opportunities in life.
“Number one yung wala kang pera, kailangan kumayod para magkapera,” Manuel recalled.
Outside the world of professional examinations, Manuel and his partner established the JFM Group of Businesses in 2019, starting from a small rented room before expanding into e-bike trading, online booking services, real estate, and other ventures across Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.

Today, the company operates multiple branches and employs more than 50 workers, reflecting the same perseverance that shaped Manuel’s personal journey.
Despite earning multiple professional titles, Manuel said his proudest moments are those shared with his family, who continue to inspire and support him in every achievement.
He also shared the personal realization that now guides his life: “Control your emotions and you will control everything.”
As he continues to grow both as a businessman and professional, Manuel hopes his story will inspire others to keep pursuing their dreams regardless of age, failures, or hardships.
He hopes that someday, when people hear his name, they will remember one message: “Kaya naman niya, kaya din natin.”
