#WalangPasok: Palace suspends work in gov’t offices on December 29, 2025 and January 2, 2026

MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang announced on Thursday, December 18, that work in all government offices will be suspended on December 29, 2025 (Monday) and January 2, 2026 (Friday) to give government employees ample time to celebrate the New Year and travel across the country.

“In order to provide government employees full opportunity to celebrate New Year’s Day activities and to allow them to travel to and from different regions in the country, work in all government offices is hereby suspended on 29 December 2025 and 2 January 2026,” said Memorandum Circular No. 111, signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto.

The circular clarified that government agencies providing basic, vital, and health services, as well as those involved in emergency preparedness and response, must continue to operate during these dates.

For private companies, the circular leaves it up to their respective management to decide whether to suspend work on the same dates.

Separately, under Proclamation No. 727, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin in 2024, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared the following holidays:

  • December 25 (Thursday) – Christmas Day
  • December 30 (Tuesday) – Rizal Day

Special Non-Working Days:

  • December 24 (Wednesday) – Christmas Eve
  • December 31 (Wednesday) – Last Day of the Year
