MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday announced that authorities have secured arrest warrants against 10 individuals, including contractor Sarah Discaya, linked to a ₱96.5 million ghost flood control project in Davao Occidental.
In the latest update on the investigation, President Marcos said those involved in the scam face non-bailable charges of graft and malversation, meaning they cannot post bail while awaiting trial.
“Ang mga akusado ay nahaharap sa kasong graft at malversation. Ito pong mga kasong ito, hindi po bailable ito. Hindi pwedeng bayaran para sila’y makalabas sa kulungan,” the President said in a video message.
Sarah Discaya, one of the top contractors behind the questionable flood control projects, is currently in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Eight Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials implicated in the case have indicated their intention to surrender to authorities.
President Marcos stressed that the government will continue pursuing criminal cases against all involved, underscoring his commitment to accountability and the recovery of public funds.
“Titiyakin po natin na hindi lamang sila ay makakasuhan, kundi maibalik ang pera ng ating mga kababayan ay ibalik sa kaban ng ating bansa,” he said.
