MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units (LGUs) have announced the suspension of classes on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, due to Tropical Depression Verbena and the shear line bringing heavy rain.

According to state weather bureau PAGASA's 5:00 AM update on Tuesday, Tropical Depression Verbena is now passing the coastal waters of Cuyo archipelago.
The center of 'Verbena' was estimated based on all available data including those from Iloilo Doppler Weather Radar over the coastal waters of Cuyo, Palawan.
Verbena has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and central pressure of 996 hPa.

It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone.
According to the track forecast, Verbena will move west northwestward over Sulu Sea and make landfall over the northern portion of Palawan tonight. It will then emerge over the West Philippine Sea tomorrow (November 26) early morning.
Afterwards, it will pass north of Kalayaan Islands tomorrow evening, exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday (November 27) early morning, and turn west southwestward from Thursday until Friday (November 28) morning.
Automatic Class Suspensions
In December 2024, the Department of Education (DepEd) released revised guidelines on the suspension of classes and work in schools during natural calamities.
