MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units (LGUs) have announced the suspension of classes on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, due to Super Typhoon Nando (Ragasa) and the enhanced southwest monsoon.

According to state weather bureau PAGASA's 2:00 PM update on Monday, life-threatening conditions persist over the Northern portion of Northern Luzon as 'Nando' passes very close to Babuyan Islands.

At 1:00 PM today, the center of the eye of Super Typhoon Nando was estimated based on all available data including those from Aparri Doppler Weather Radar over the coastal waters of Babuyan Is., Calayan, Cagayan.

It has maximum sustained winds of 215 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 295 km/h, and central pressure of 910 hPa.

Track and Intensity Outlook

  • The center of the eye of NANDO is currently passing very close to Babuyan Island. It will pass very close or make landfall over Calayan Island between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM today. On the forecast track, NANDO may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow (23 September) morning.
  • NANDO may maintain its strength or further intensify before its close approach to Babuyan Islands.
