MANILA, Philippines – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is urging motorists to avoid the areas near Marriott Grand Ballroom, World Trade Center, and SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City from August 25 to 30, 2025, due to the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 competition.

The Philippines, through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), is hosting the international event from August 21 to 31, marking the second time the country has served as venue.

Key Dates and Venues

August 25 – Opening ceremony at Marriott Grand Ballroom

August 26–28 – Main competition at World Trade Center Metro Manila

August 30 – Closing ceremony at SMX Convention Center Manila

Traffic Management

The MMDA announced that it will deploy at least 85 personnel to implement traffic management measures and ensure emergency preparedness along major routes—covering the airport, billeting hotels, competition venues, and official engagement areas.

The agency is working closely with the Philippine National Police (PNP), local traffic units, and other concerned government agencies to maintain order and minimize disruptions during the 10-day event.

About the Competition

The WorldSkills ASEAN Competition gathers top youth talents from the 11 ASEAN member states to showcase their technical and vocational expertise.

This year’s Manila edition will feature close to 300 participants competing in 32 skill areas across six sectors, including:

  • Information and Communications Technology (cybersecurity, IT network systems, Internet of Things, and network cabling)
  • Manufacturing and Engineering Technology
  • Hospitality and other vocational fields

Industry Support

A total of 47 companies and industry stakeholders, including training institutions, are supporting the country’s hosting by providing access to equipment, workshops, and facilities. These resources will be used both for training the Philippine team and during the main competitions.
