MANILA, Philippines – Health is wealth, we all know that. But let’s also admit that not everyone can afford to see a doctor or prioritize their health and consultations.
Many would rather tighten their budget and spend their money on other necessities like food and utility bills.
A Facebook reel by Dr. Russel Nacog-ang Guadilla, a primary care doctor, recently gained significant attention after he revealed that he only charges ₱300 to ₱350 per consultation—much less than the standard fees at many other clinics.

“27 years of studying. First doctor sa family. Newly licensed. Walang ipon,” he captioned.
"Hindi ko naman yata ikamamatay magbukas ng clinic at maningil ng P350 (P300 [for] PWD/student/senior) per consult," he added.
According to Dr. Russel, he observed a lack of accessible medical facilities outside Bonifacio Global City, especially in surrounding areas such as West Rembo. This gap in healthcare access inspired him to set up his own clinic in the community, aiming to serve individuals and families who may not have the means to afford more expensive medical services.
"So where do minimum wage earners go when they need a doctor but can't afford hospitals or can't wait hours in line at the health center?" Doc Russel said in an interview.
"I opened a small outpatient clinic not for competition or profit but to offer a reachable option for our neighbors."
Some netizens, however, recommended that he raise his consultation fee to prevent potential backlash from fellow physicians.
Although he’s a newly licensed, first-generation doctor with limited financial resources, Doc Russel stressed that his priority is to make healthcare affordable and accessible.
He also mentioned that in some areas, other doctors typically charge between ₱100 and ₱250 for consultations.
