MANILA, Philippines – A Facebook post by a bank has gone viral after it featured the inspiring success story of one of its employees, who used to work as a security guard and is now a bank teller.

According to the bank’s post, behind the smile and dedication of Ricardo Laingo, Jr., more commonly known as Jun, is a story of perseverance, humility, and unwavering hope.

He is 35 years old, a humble father, and a native of Miputak, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Based on his account, he is the youngest of five siblings. Their father used to be a fisherman, while their mother sold fish for a living.

In 2010, Jun began working as an agency-hired security guard. He was assigned to various locations several times until he was eventually stationed at Security Bank's Dipolog Branch. For eight years, he served as the bank’s watchman—not as an employee, but as a guard carrying a dream.

In 2018, Jun received wonderful news, he had been accepted as a scholar of the Security Bank Foundation under the “Regalo Mo, Kinabukasan Ko” program, which is intended for the bank’s agency-hired personnel and their children.

While continuing his job as a security guard, Jun enrolled at Dipolog City Institute of Technology to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Balancing work, family, and studies was not easy, but with discipline and the support of the Foundation, he graduated With Honors on July 2, 2022, at the age of 32.

After a brief stint working at a well-known motorcycle company, the long-awaited opportunity finally came. On March 3, 2025, he was officially hired as a Teller at Security Bank’s Dipolog Branch, no longer as a guard standing outside the door, but as a professional inside the bank.

Jun’s success is not just a story of personal triumph, it is also proof of how education and support can transform the course of one’s life.
